Broke my pelvis falling from a horse in gallop 2 weeks ago.
It's the a pubic ramus break apparently.
Does anyone have any experience healing a break like this?
I'm pretty fed up already. Just trying to find someone with experience of it - a broken pelvis in your mid twenties is seen as a strange thing to non-riders!

A lass at work broke her pelvis in 2 places as well as her coxis, not sure which bit of her pelvis but it was not a good break! I think it was 6 months before she felt normal, 8 before she got back on a horse. 2 months back on the horses and she is off them again as its all getting quite sore again so she is going to take a break from horses - she was riding out 3 lots a day and mucking out half a dozen boxes a day! A one horse person wouldn't be as bad I expect!

Luckily I only have one fracture.
I'm also lucky in that I won't be pushing myself to get back. I don't own, I just ride recreationally in lessons and organised hacks so hopefully that will be easier on me than if I owned one or more of my own.

I'm 62, broke my pelvis in 2 places, pubic ramus, and at the back as well. I used an arc equine for the first 2 weeks, and was off crutches in 2 months. It hurt a lot for 2 weeks, but I was able to drive after a week, although I don't think that's recommended! Harder to get into the truck than to drive it. Hope you heal ok. I think a certain amount of exercise is good. I had a walker, and mobility scooter from a previous breakage ( horse owner, obviously!), and although told to be non weight bearing for 6 weeks, I used the walker to get around, and it helped to just gradually use the leg a bit more.

Yep! Broke that bit and medial ramus a couple of years ago in the most pathetic fall you ever did see! Got straight back on and decided it really wasn’t happening. I was the officially worst patient ever, got back on said horse after 2weeks, really dumb, hurt like hell and was very tricky to get off again! I didn’t rest, hobbled about with crutches (couldn’t use them for the life of me) only had one day off work and worked 12hr shifts as usual and was generally stupid. It took ages. For weeks after the break had healed, I would be riding fine then get a blinding pain down my leg, lose vision and turn white. It wasn’t pleasant and I was seriously too stubborn for my own good. 2years on I still don’t have my splits back! Not exactly a problem for everyday life, but rude I can’t do it anymore! I firmly maintain it wasn’t the break (which was X-ray healed in 5weeks) it was the soft tissue damage that I didn’t give time to heal properly and didn’t recondition properly either. Lesson, rest it now and build up slowly you’ll be back to full fitness far quicker, best of luck!

Yep - snapped that and also fractured the body of the ischium in a fall onto frozen ground. Because I'm a moron, I just thought i'd pulled a muscle, so tried to hobble around for a couple of days (in agony) before heading to A&E. I started to feel a lot better after a couple of weeks, was driving after 3, and was down to 1 crutch by 4. Consultant told me it would be 6 weeks to heal, which it was pretty much, and I was back on 6 weeks to the day. I lost a lot of muscle and my hip felt 'tight' when i was on board, but just improved steadily. The best thing you can do is rest, and then do gentle walking around as and when you can. Once i'd healed up properly i used to do things like walk up the stairs at work to help build my strength and leg muscles up again. Take it slowly, give yourself time, and you'll be back on board before you know it.

Feel your pain! Get well soon.
