We need this for one of our Welshie's who is on box rest and is very stress. Our vet can not source it from anyone - I have tried Viovet and JM Loveridge without luck. Does anyone know of any other manufacturer?

Just checked, did a search for 'potassium bromide' and a few choices came up on ebay - just check the purity level compared to what you would've got from the vet to be safe as most manufacturers will be producing for labs I think x.

I'm sure I used it as it came, but wouldn't want to suggest something which hadn't been triple checked as safe xxx.

If you get the prescription from him/her, it's available as capsules from vetscriptions.co.uk. I wouldn't be buying it from a source other than a Pharmacy, due to purity issues and potential side effects.

I've just been helping someone whose horse has been having seizures and she has successfully ordered it on Amazon. The company is in Manchester and supplies chemicals to all sorts and it is 998% pure - it is usually used to callibrate scientific measuring kit, so has to be pure for that. Ironically, I got mine from the vets via a prescription and was told that I had to have a prescription, even though it isn't a POM.

Loveridge I believe is the only UK manufacturer by the way. They used to supply mine. There used to be another, but they disappeared. It regularly goes off line anyway due to production problems - used to cause me a good few frights as my mare's seizures would return within a few days if I didn't give it to her, or up her phenobarbitone to cover the gap.

Bear in mind OP that it tastes FOUL and even a greedy Welshie may turn up its nose, so introduce it slowly.

I have no idea how private people get things, just that Sigma have absolutely every chemical in the whole world! :D

I can't see why a vet wouldn't be allowed it but god only knows  OP does your vet do their own lab work or do they outsource it? If they do it in house the path lab might be able to order it as they may already have an account?

Well if you don't ask you certainly don't get!
