there is a local wheeler and dealer with horses and she also rents land from the same lady that i do, the land owner was telling me that the broodmare that she has is over 3 weeks late this was over a week ago. i feel so sorry for the mare she just stands with her head hanging and looks so sad. so was wondering if its normal for horses pregnancies to be so overdue??

Yes it frequently happens. The thing is there really is no "due date" - it is just an average date so a mare can foal much earlier than this date or much later.

This year one of mine foaled 10 days after the date and my other foaled 3 weeks before this average date.

It's been a bad summer here grass wise, so maybe it's just not 'cooked' yet? My mare was two weeks overdue....and the foal was perfect.

Mia was over a month overdue, vet said to let nature take its time. She had the foal but had trouble, foal was sooo big, but was because of size of the stallion.

Hope she goes soon, my lot are now 3 and 2 months. Hard to believe that romi is near 4 months, they grow up so fast!!
