Opinions please? What about the price?

depends what your looking to breed.. That should technically breed a bloody good horse, and if you looking to breed quality then that looks fine (go see the mare and its conformation and stuff) if all is well the price is resonable.

I think I saw that one advertised, I skipped it because of the price, too expensive for me...... but sounds very nice!

There is a nice looking mare on horsequest atm with Argentinus in the breeding that is £2750ono

NG and I have been looking at all the broodmares because she is looking for another one atm too!

I'm no expert on WB breeding, but quite a few people on here recently were saying they were not keen on Pro-Set's offspring - I think they are often very plain and don't move very well or something; can't remember, and can't remember the title of the thread (sorry, I'm not being much help).

But then stallions are always getting unfairly blamed for things, so this may just all be unfounded gossip.

And anyway it doesn't matter, as you are really buying the mare, not the foal, which you can always sell if it's not what you hoped for.

If you like the look of her and her breeding, it sounds like she'd be worth a visit!

Haven't seen anything by Pro Set himself but his sire Jet Set D produces very nice horses for the amatuer dressage enthusiast, horses that are compliant, easy to train, and willing to please and is reknown for stamping his character onto his progeny. They will happily work along with a riding club rider at prelim level but in the more competative home are very successful. Lovely rounded uphill canter and soft floating trot that seems effortless. Often passes on bone and substance, heads can be plain but still attractive and often stamped with the bright bay robe and black points. If ProSet is anything like his sire then would agree and Irish Draft x may not be the best choice but on DW has certainly produced the goods.

Sorry - I'm feeling bad now - really shouldn't have said that! I hate it when people slag off stallions they know nothing about, just on the basis of hearsay which could easily be unfounded nonsense, and here I am doing exactly that! Ugh.

There did seem to be a fairly strong body of opinion against this horse, but I have never even seen him, or his progeny, so I am totally unqualified to comment.

i seen the horse advertised ,it is reasonably priced i think, however the proset foal i have had recent dealings with is reriously sharp and i believe many others have been some what difficult to deal with

Thanks for all the comments guys

I'm not too bothered the unborn foal being by Pro-Set as I would sell it at weanling (not trying to sound harsh

) but I can't keep every foal I have

lol.

Does anyone know around how much the foal would be worth? (Gawd that sounds so heartless

) aslong everything went ok anyway.

Find out more about the mare, especially her dam line. I breed Trakehners so might be able to tell you more about her family. Also ask for her grading scores.
I know of a superb Trakehner broodmare for sale at the moment from one of the best mare lines in Germany if you are looking for one
