Would you use a tb mare as a broodmare for sporthorses?
She is a very good jumper, the person who tried her before I bought her jumped her over 1.20m at 3!! She won the P(UK) Northern Masters Sj Novice and was 5th in Open in 2000, we're always on the RC SJ team and she's done well in WH classes. She's jumped BN & Disc on ticket and jumped Double clears. Due to lack of transport and £, we never did anything more than local/county, though she's more than capable of it.
Trouble is she's got a very low head carriage (neck is set on a little low), and she's also built downhill, her hindlegs look longer than her front, however I think that the angles hip-buttock and shoulder are good for jumping and I think she also has good hindlegs too.... Her sire is Handsome Sailor and he's sired NH and Flat winners, and as I recntly found out from Volatis his sire line is responsible for Lauries Crusador and on my mares dam side are two horses also related to Lauries Crusador. Sorry the pics aren't good (and yes I know my daughter should be wearing a hat)
This is her foal (yearling) by HG's stallion Lohekey Helios De Bornival
as a foal at a few days old:
Yay! Got a bay from 2 greys! What are the chances?!?!
She is in foal to my colt but I'm wondering whether to bring her back into work and loan her out or carry on breeding from her after she's had this foal.........
