Is there anyone that goes here from the Hertford area? I'm in Hitchin but looking for some dressage next weekend, and was wondering if anyone gets there from Hertford/Ware/Harlow area without having to go on the M25?

Also, does anyone who has been there recently know if the dressage is outdoors?

Thanks

Hi there

You can go along the A414 and then out through Ongar if you want to avoid the M25 - dead easy from the Harlow M11 junction if you can get there easily?

Not sure about what is inside or outside but they are very helpful so I am pretty sure if you text and ask, they will let you know. I haven't been since their new outdoor arena was opened - it used to be that you warmed up in their under cover outdoor arena (ie it's open at the sides but has a roof) and the competition would be in their indoor school but I imagine they may be using the new arena now.

Lovely venue, easy to get to, easy parking on hard standing and nice surfaces.

Good luck if you go.

I was about to suggest this way too.

They're doing tests one indoors and one out. So the first one will be (i.e. first prelim) outdoors and second one indoors (i.e. second prelim). Outdoor looks lovely but haven't been in it yet as both my tests were indoors this weekend :)

A414 would be the best route, otherwise you could do A10, Waltham Cross, Theydon bois, Abridge to avoid the M25 but then you will get "that" bridge at Abridge!!

Good luck

Thank you for all the replies.

I don't think I know that bridge Angua2, but I'm not good with bridges (I'm a wimp!) so I'll make sure I avoid that.

I kept looking at Brook Farm and thought it looked a bit too posh for me and the cob, but I think I'll give it a go as he is spooky so we need to try some new venues instead of going to the same ones.

I haven't been over that way for years - last time would've been when Harlow RC used to have their summer shows in the park near the ski slope!

It looks a bit narrow and made me laugh as I was expecting something like the A10 viaduct at Ware which scares the life out of me

You will absolutely be fine there - lovely place and very helpful peeps. Did my first ever BD with them last Sept and was great. The indoor arena is nice, bigger than 20x40 so it has white boards set out. The new arena is mega and they do long area tests in it. It has the surface from the Olympics on it! Lots of hardstanding to park and a nice cafe as well.

Was looking forward to this Sunday then horse decides to come in lame :-(

Hopefully I'll make it to the June show

Its a lovely venue to compete not too posh at all, the bridge at Abridge is pretty lethal my friend nearly knocked the whole side down with her horsebox so I would try to avoid if you have a large lorry.
