So I'm seriously considering entering a 'retrained racehorse' class soon with the horse I share, and i just wondered if anyone has any advice on what colour browband might suit him because he is a little odd looking! :)

Basically he is a chestnut horse with a full white face, and different coloured eyes! (i'm not sure how to add a picture)

Is he the right type for a pretty browband? Only hack and riding horse types wear one, hunter types wear plain leather.
Id avoid any colours like silver, white, cream, or yellow.
A deep burghundy can look good on chestnuts. Make sure you have a substantial flat nose band to break up the white

You can't beat a traditional red white and blue browband though with such a big white face I would probably go for a deeper red/burgundy with just a dash of white so it doesn't get lost on his face. You will stand out in the ring for his markings so no need to go for a massively OTT browband.

Thanks all! I guess he will stand out due to his face like you say EKW, he has chestnut ears and forelock but the rest of the front of his face is white, almost like he has a mask on! Then there's the one blue eye too! bless him! I like the idea of burgundy!

he is quite chunky... he looks more like a warmblood, although his brain is definitely TB!

Plain it is! this showing stuff is complicated, maybe i should stick to dressage! :)

Haha! It's not so bad once you get your head around the basics :D

Dressage is the one that confuses me! I'm more of a freestyler :D

It does depend on type. Most tbs are of a riding horse build rather than hunter so would be better with a coloured browband.

Take him out and compare him to the hunters, ask for the judges opinion and go from there. You won't be penalised for whichever browband you go for.

It's a riding club show so I'll just be honest and say 'it's our first time' and hopefully the judge will give me some tips on what class he suits if we do it again!

I'm just hoping that he behaves (he's called 'Scary' for more than one reason me thinks!) and that I don't ride like a numpty, it's been a while since I've competed! :)

Do you know how I add a pic? I tried to put him on my profile pic but that's only a face picture.

Add it to Photobucket, then copy the
