I’m looking to buy a pair of new riding boots for “going out”. I have a native and we only ever do a little of anything, is there any occasion brown boots aren’t suitable?
All my tack is brown and I think they’d go better with my tweed.
But I’m old and can no longer remember all the rules, traditions and faux pas of tack and turnout!

What can’t I do in brown boots and tweed?

If your showing in particular classes you would have to check. I did ROR last year and had brown boots with my tweed. Judge said black boots are more suitable. For dressage and showjumping brown boots are fine.

Brown boots are awesome!

Once upon a time I used to be super concerned about what was correct. However, as a woman of a certain age - I now have the confidence to wear whatever the hell I like and will admit to having a bit of a boot addiction (in addition to my jacket addiction), so If I like them in brown I’ll buy them and then add a black pair the same the next week because I can.

Go for it - there are some lovely brown boots coming out now.

Love brown boots - own 3 pairs of brown and no black now! Haven't stopped me doing anything but showing isn't my bag.

Love brown boots... showed my traditional HOYS doing so... wouldn't wear them on a riding horse or hack tho...

I've also done dressage in them - I think they are nicer in lots of ways than black boots.

I have a pair of PE field boots that I wear everyday they are tremendous value for money .
I also have an Ariat field boots they are good as well .
