I've finally found the saddle I've been after at a price I can afford. Except it's brown! Not a problem, going to buy it regardless :P
However, I also need a new 'nice' bridle (thank you pony for chewing on your other one) - so do I go for black or brown? :/ Only issue is that the girth I use only comes in black!!

Also, not sure how a brown bridle would look on Dan? Especially in summer.

Other option is to see about dying/staining the saddle darker, but would be worried about ruining it  So would probably just leave it :) At the end of the day, as long as it does the job...!! :)

Would like to see what others think though :)

Just doing something similar except the new dressage saddle is black but the dun horse looks better with a brown bridle, my view is for eventing the dressage judge should not be judging the tack and as long as it fits and is smart does it matter. You are sitting on the saddle so the colour will not be too obvious so go for the bridle that suits your horse.

I'm sure nobody else does :p but if I will be buying a new bridle anyway it makes sense to make the most sensible decision? :) I've never seen him in brown tack though and have no idea what it would look like! I might have to pinch someone's brown bridle & see how he looks in it :P

Ahh, brown is good, because it gets darker as you oil it. Reg's looks almost black in photos, and is good for showing too :)

Mixed doesn't matter at all! Def wouldn't even consider dying it at all.
A dark havana, especially as it becomes used and cleaned more will look v dark. Your boy looks a stunning bright bay in your sig - is he the one you are kitting out? OH mare goes a v similar v bright bay in summer and looks really gorgeous in brown tack.

ThePony - yes, he's the one :) Bright ginger in summer, sooty looking pale orange in winter & dodgy orangy-red in between as his clips grow out :o I do think brown could suit him quite well :)

We had many ranges of tack colour combinations!

I had a brown bridle with black dressage saddle, brown girth, brown stirrup leathers and black stirrups

have also had

black bridle with brown saddle

I've never cared - in fact it is has never occurred to me they should match :o :o

Gasp of horror  Your poor horse, I bet you don't even coordinate your headcollars and rugs do you?

Hahaha neither do I but the way some people manage to keep changing rugs / colour schemes is eye opening. I am obsessive about my tack for the show ring but that's about it.

My dressage tack includes a very dark brown saddle and everything else black, including stirrup leathers. Nobody has noticed really unless you look up close.

I have a brown dressage saddle, but the rest of my tack is black. I have a brown dressage girth, but prefer my black one, so use that with it usually.
When I'm riding I dont think it's particularly obvious, maybe if you looked closely when Mally was stationary with no rider!
My saddle has light brown suede knee rolls and seat, so not even a dark Havana! :D

I don't think its a disaster if the brown part of the combination is dark havana! :)

Also think your boy would look very nice all in havana (he is beautiful)

Just remembered - I'm an idiot :D
Here he is in a brown saddle
