Brown tack on bay horses ..

As an 'oldie' I was taught brown for country, black for town!! But it depends on the shade of brown - dark brown always looks fab, but light brown ----- NEVER!!

Agree with Alyth- even my dark boy is going into brown, though its taking a bit of getting used to!

I've been advised to use brown tack only on my Cleveland Bays for competing, which is a bit annoying as all my tack is black!!

Googling the southern Cleveland bay club or just a general image search should pull up loads of examples :)

I have brown for the two bays and black for the greys and dapple grey. Much prefer brown/Havana though especially for the show ring.

the only horse I like in black tack is pitch black & white piebald ... Unfortunately my new piebald boy fits my brown saddle and thus ... is now also going in brown. Am getting used to it, still. Which is weird as hugely prefer brown on every other horse!

I like black tack, but have brown for my new mahogany bay chap, black for the greys and the black one - with LOADs of garish sparkly gold, silver or diamanté on all of it, naturally.

I plonked the saddle on her today, have to say I think brown suits her! Didn't get a picture though, numpty ... Now to get someone to check it fits, looks okay to me but I know eff all about fitting saddles!
