At my last farrier visit my farrier trimmed my mares ergots (she's a hairy cob and they grow like wild fire!) as he does every two or three visits. When he trimmed the back ones this time they had a red colour in them, as if they were bruised.
Does anyone know what could have caused this?
She has been a bit funny with her back legs, especially her off-hind. Snatching at it when it being picked up, which is has always done a little but seems to be more at the moment. She also stamps her feet in the field, as we are battling mites at the moment.
