Hello

As per the title, my horse has bruising on his hind feet. On both hinds the bruising starts at the top and is exactly in the region of his quarter clips / where the nails sit on both sides on both hooves.
He has had it a while now and I've been told its normal. I've read up and seen it can be the shape of his hooves. But I'm concerned about it and am now considering having his hind shoes removed.

Has anyone had anything similar?
Has anyone removed hind shoes and had any problems? (the last thing I want is to create problems)

Thank you for any comments, greatly appreciated.

Take the shoes off. Many horses can cope without the hinds without doing the whole BF thing (although BF diet etc... is good for shod horses too).

However the farrier saying that it's normal is enough to make me wonder if he's the right farrier for you.
