My gelding came out the field almost hopping today, very reluctant to put front feed down(only shod in front). I immediately picked up his hooves to find lots of stones impacted in his hooves and around the frog, picked them out best I could until back at the stable and he was much happier. Hacked out and he was fine but I’m slightly sceptical that he’s a bit sore in front. Any tips for bruised soles? His hooves are picked out and checked every day, my field has stones put down as hardcore at the gate to make it a bit less muddy but it seems to have done the opposite-Clay soil and layer of stones eventually gets churned up and impacts itself in the hoof!
