Brush for a bit?

Where can I buy an old fashioned brush attachment for the bit? I was trying to discribe it to my spanish trainer and he has asked me to try and find one?
 
im trying to wrack my brains to work out where i got mine from and im not sure but i think it was a local tack shop bout 10yrs ago, sorry no help i know! dont see many of them used
 
I think they help with your steering, like if you're having real problems turning your horse.
They're like bit rubbers, but are usually leather, and have bristles on the side that would touch the horses mouth.
When you'd steer, the bristles would press into the horses face, so making them turn the way you want.
 
Don't know where to get one infact, I've never heard of one, what are they used for?
