I currently have Equilibrium Tri Zone boots for my lightweight cob - I love the idea of them, but they constantly slip down his legs.

He has mediums on his front legs and large size on his hinds - great, I thought, they are too big so I will move the mediums to his hind legs and get some small sized ones for the front legs..... nope, the smalls are FAR too small for his front legs!

So it appears the boots just don't suit his legs - so, what boots do you use for your competition cobs?

If he is boney but with short cannons then the wide versions work well, I had the NEW wides for Frank, and WW do medium wide too.

I used to use claredon boots behind on mine, not popular now I would imagine because of the fleece lining but found they fitted mine really well.

Also used woof wear club boots or the single or double lock ones. They were ok but some times slipped especially as they got older and the Velcro started to go hence using the others ones.
My problem was she was a bit long in the canon but not chunky behind. Used tendon boots on the front but ones with a cut out at the top so they didn't dig into the back of her knees when she jumped. I only used fetlock boots behind when I jumped but I only ever show jumped.

I use the woofwear club ones or the shires arma ones - the arma ones go on the delinquent all day in the field and don't move at all!

To be effective you really have to know why you boot and what damage you need to protect from. Brushing is not normally a cob thing so it is hard to find brushing boots that fit. Does your cob really brush? If so would a sausage boot be a better option? If you are booting for a reason other than brushing - why are you trying to find brushing boots? Cobs are hard to fit at the best of times. You really need to define the reason for a boot and then go from there.

In my experience hardly any horses that wear brushing boots actually brush - they are used to protect the legs when (as with my horse) they are still uncoordinated at times and run the risk of striking into themselves

I like boots with no or soft binding, mine wear variously: woof wear club, some in the wide size, equilibrium stretch & flex and some caldene ones. Salty is a klutz behind sometimes so I like boots with a really low profile strike pad and all of these fit the bill and wash well too.

*S is not a cob but has cannons the same dimensions as Kira :p

I've failed to find any boots that fit my 14.2hh connie except woof wear club boots-they fit very well, ditto equilibrium stretch and flex.

I have a 15:2 Welsh D and find the equilibrium stretch and flex fit really well and don't make his legs sweat. For jumping I use the Woof Wear Club boots which also fit well.
