brushing boots slipping

I have a chunky 15hh cob with a lot of bone. At the moment he has full size mark Todd brushing boots on the front and xfull woof wears on the hinds. Problem is that they slip. No matter what I do!

I've tried premier Equine as well and still slip.

Just ordered some N.E.W ones to try - the soft touch ones. Hope they will stay put!

Can anyone offer any ideas?!
 
I use ones from Professional Choice! Have a little 'lump' thats sits snuggly in the groove in the heel and keeps them in place.
 
Does he actually need them, moving boots can cause rubs and could cause sore spots on the tendons. I can understand using them for jumping x-country, but unless he actually brushes or strikes himself, he would be better off without.
 
I only use them for jumping - either schooling or Xc. He is quite green jumping poles and can knock them and get his feet in a tangle!
For flatwork I use wraps.

Absolutely.

Learn something new each day :) I had never heard of Saratoga wraps, had to look those up, but yes, I like the look of those at first glance, they are something I would use for sure. I really do not like boots at all, much less chance of slippage and stuff getting inside bandages when applied correctly.
 
I'd be inclined to think they are a little too big for him, try the neoprene type boots that have velcro fastenings, there is a little stretch in them so they can be done up more snugly.

I know the others look so smart but loose boots can also slip down and cause a horse to trip himself up.
 
Tnavas they are neoprene brushing boots. The issue is that he has so much bone I have to have these sizes for them to even go round his leg. They certainly aren't too big and BELIEVE me I do them up as tight as I can!
 
Hi Op. I had the same problem with my Mark Todd brushing boots.
Try some bog standard Woof club boots- I swear by them and they don't cost the earth either. In fact if you keep an eye on Ebay you can pick some up for a fiver!

Are they the sort that just velcro or do you feed the velcro strap through a metal oblong and fold it back on itself. I have problems getting boots big enough for mine - she's a Clydesdale and have resorted to bandaging.
