Brushing?

My friend's fell pony seems to be brushing behind, was interested in people's advice. He doesn't have any brushing injures but his hooves clack against eachother quite alot sounding like he's overreaching but he isn't.

Any thoughts? Would you put overreach boots on his hinds to stop them knocking eachother?

My gelding can brush a bit behind if he isn't walking out properly but where it touches is low on his hoof wall and doesn't do it in any other pace or if he is striding out he's never injured himself so I've never booted him.

Maybe put on a sausage boot?

If it's not over-reaching (try the boots anyway, see if it stops) ask your farrier, they may be able to fit a different shoe or file the hoof a little shorter?

Sorry to sound dim but whats a sausage boot?!

A sausage boot is a thick rubber tube with a leather strap which is made in a circular shape which goes on the hind leg just above the hoof to stop over reaching.

Yup, know what you mean now but had no idea they were called sausage boots! Thought they were coronet rings.
