BSJA @ Badgworth, Somerset

In or out depending on the weather forcast. Nice ridable, jumpable courses.
Has become very popular over the last year so can get busy
 
Voted best cheesy chips in the SW area by the Pony Club mummies club. Nice and warm cafe, nice atmosphere, jumps not up to height, easy to find and very friendly. Best place to take their showjump adverse daughter to do some BSJA.
 
I am also a big Badgworth BS fan. Lovely friendly people. Excellent reasonably priced food. They have got a lovely new surface on their main outdoor arena and have been jumping on it outdoors all Summer which is great. Their indoor is a little bit tight for big horses or babies (nowhere near as small as Rockhampton though) but they normally build nice courses. Jumps are not too scarey except for the blue wavey planks that I have seen a lot of horses really look at or stop :eek: I am going on the 30th - anyone else going???
 
That's when I'm thinking of going... but not showjumped in rather a long time! On their website I thought I saw a schedule saying they were starting with an 80cm open but can't find that now and on BS website says 90cm open but that's class 2 and they don't mention class 1! Am a bit confused. Would be useful to use the 80 as a warm up class in case I've forgotten how to ride a course!
 
I am going on the 30th providing I am no longer suspended by the BSJA.

I like Badgworth apart from the amount of people there. Courses always ride well if you ride forwards. Its too tight to take a pull!!

Are we allowed to ask why you're suspended? Thanks for the heads up, I'm a bugger for fiddling so be really good for me to have to attack my jumps a bit!

PS, best way to get there from m4/m5? Google seems to suggest overshooting on the m5 and doubling back but wondering if it's better to use the A roads and come down through Bristol as shorter?
 
Yes coming off at J22 is the easiest thing on M5. Its very straight forward roads doing it that way.

I am suspended for wearing a tweed jacket and not enough bling.

Don't go through Bristol to pick up the A38, that is a miserable drive. Like LEC said, J22 M5 and then double back in the direction of Cheddar.
 
Coolio, thanks guys. Psychologically I dislike having to double back but I'm all for an easy drive with a trailer on the back! Have done the drive through Bristol and down through Congressbury before when the m5 had ground to a halt and it did seem to take forever.

It does take forever, and sometimes even longer, and don't forget from Congresbury you have to drive though the windy lane, past Langford, to get to the A38, and even then you are still 15 or 20 minutes drive from Badgeworth :mad:

I know it feels 'wrong' to double back, but trust us, it's better. Watch the speed limits though, as there are a couple of speed cameras in the 30 mph bits.
 
Badgeworth is a really nice arena and a great place for BS, As it's not overally built up to height some BS are just ridiciously big, Its a friendly amosphere everyone is always very helpful - However it is a tight especially for my big 16.2! and usually pretty busy! but otherwise its great! and the courses are flowing and very nice! x
