hi there.

i've heard about team selection etc for children on horses.... but are there any actual bsja classes for children on horses? if so, what are restrictions and heights???

thanks

I don't know about teams etc. but my daughter jumped in BSJA horse classes when she was 14, riding a 15.2. She jumped BN and Disc but don't think there is any restriction as to what classes they could have done.

Yer there was a GB team last year I think they are under 16 years but on horses over 148cm.

I remember the pictures

They won gold

Children on horses are for up to 14yr olds riding horses as junior associate members. There are no real restrictions as to what classes they jump. apart from a GP at a major International show. (They have to be 18) The C O H classes are approx 1.20 for team selection. The trials for this year were held at Wales & West a couple of weeks ago. & yes, last year GB won Gold at the championships.

My friend was considering borrowing my ex-BSJA horse for his 2 daughters for children on horses. Then I found out it starts at 1.15m and goes up to 1.30m so I decided its probably out of my horse's league (he's jumped up to 1.20m and did newcomers successfully).
He knows all about it as they bought a horse specifically for it who for some reason he's not using, I will ask him about it if you want?

my daughter was 14yo when she moved up to seniors. you can do amatuer classes, young rider classes (up to 18yo) all the opens, and what ever grade the horse is in etc. we found a lot of classes to enter.
