Was just incredible how 1hour transformed my little horse. I have never, ever seen or ridden him like that, I didn't even know he had it in him!

She was just really helpful, my previous RS instructor is always really negative, tells me how bad Prince is and how I need to sort it otherwise he will be ruined, but she was full of praise and encouragement, which really calmed me down, as me getting stressed is 85% our problems.

I don't even know what she did, it wasn't groundbreaking, things like slow breathing, lift hands up , and Prince just transformed (seriously!) from a strung-out front-heavy no-bend disgrace to so light and uphill and soft. She said he would make a really good dressage horse as he was springing off the ground (all four legs in air in trot!) and doing extended trot.

The thing I am most happy about is the difference between the style of teaching. Being told he was rubbish and I needed to sort it just made everything worse, but someone with a positive attitude can make you feel so good about yourself and your horse.

Prince got a big bucket of grub and lots of cuddles

that sounds a very productive lesson, yay! is always much better when a trainer is positive- makes you ride so much better. i used to have lessons with a guy who used to make me ride around with my eyes shut and would then tell me to pretend to be in the spanish riding school or doing dressage at the olympics- was amazing how much taller i'd sit etc etc!

who did you have a lesson with?

I have lessons off a SJ instructor but i mainly want to do dressage. However, this instructor just gets my horse better that any dressage instructor ever has and my marks have gone from low 60's to 70% upwards consistently.

It just goes to show that when you get the right instructor you can achieve anything.

Am I allowed to say? I don't know, if I'm not admin can just delete this.

It was Philippa McKeever, area 12

Apparently she is a trained sports psychologist too.

Thats great, i remember reading your previous posts. My daughter had a lesson with a realy good jumping coach a few months ago and the transformation was amazing.

yeah you are allowed to say people's names as long as you aren't being defamatory and saying nasty stuff about people! i'm sure phillippa will be glad to have such a glowing report on here
