Hi there, I was wondering whether someone could explain the various types of competitions of BSJA... :)

Ive previously done a bit of eventing and dressage but am very new to SJ!

I understand that BD have area/regional/national competitions.. does BSJA have the equivalent?

And how do you qualify for the national ameteur comps? (dodson&horrell??).. are there 2nd and 3rd rounds? how do you qualify for these rounds/what do they consist of?

Does each class have a 2nd and 3rd round? (e.g Discovery, Newcomers etc).. how do you qualify for the 2nd round? where are these held? and what changes in the 3rd round?

How do you qualify for Blue Chip and Scope??

Are there other types of competition that I could attempt to qualify for from 1m-1.15m?? Really want to have some aims and some bigger type of competitions to qualify for but have no idea how!

Hope someone can help! :)

Have you had a look at the British showjumping website?

British novice to foxhunter you need to get 4 double clears which qualifies you for the second rounds. Then if you qualify at the second rounds British novice and discovery that qualifies you for the final at scope. If you qualify seconds rounds at newcomers and foxhunter that qualifies you for the final at hoys and and scope.

The amateur classes you need to come in the top 6 and clear in first round ro qualify for second rounds. Then if u qualify from second rounds that goes to the Amatrue finals.

To qualify for scope and blue chup u need ro enter qualifying classes which qualify u direct.

There is also the new bronze and silver league which qualifies for hoys but dint ask me about that as it is confusing!!

Hope that all makes sense but best ro check on the bs website.

All of the dates for qualifiers and second rounds will be on the website. Does your horse have bs winnings? As if so it will exclude u from certain classes

Amazing thanks so much for clearing it.

I have had a look at the website, but I do just end up pretty confused!! Its always nice to have something to aim for, but atm id had nothing really at all to aim for...

My horse has won too much to do BN, but still can do Disco which is great :)

Thanks

You have to get 4 double clears at the height you want to qualify. When you have these you are eligible for 2nd rounds. Compete at these and the top 2 will qualify for the finals at hoys/scope depending on the height. Good luck!
