Son's jumping is really coming on & hairy cob is jumping 90cm tracks quite happily. Trouble is there is a distinct lack of unaffiliated jumping over 2'9 & not a lot at that height so I am thinking maybe he could do some BSJA on a day ticket (we are not far from Keysoe, so handy) but have no idea how you go about it or how many times a year you can do it. Had a look at the BSJA website, but found it confusing to find stuff.

I don't want to register as he won't do it often enough to be worthwhile (probably max 4 shows a year) & he'll be off to Uni next year (hopefully!). Ironically it's easier to find 2'9/3' classes in winter as a local RS runs winter unaffilated SJ.

I know there will be someone on this forum who knows everyting about it & understand that a local show with a max of 2'6" just doesn't cut it any more for a teenage boy even if his horse is a hairy.

Thanks everyone. I suspect not getting any winnings won't be a problem! Though it might be funny seeing some peoples faces if a big hairy cob did win

bsja day tickets can be bought on the day. you just enter your classes as normal and pay the entry fee, but ask at for a day ticket (usually between 3 and 6 pounds on top of entry fee)

you can enter any class on a ticket, and as many times as you like. but you cannot win any placings/rosette/prize money

good luck!

have fun xx

Be aware they are not day tickets they are CLASS tickets, they cost £6 each and you need one per class, However some BSJA Intro shows have free class tickets but quite often they only have 10 free tickets so you need to get in sharp!

Can anybody help me?! My daughter has got a pony and she wants to compete bigger than 2ft 9 but all the unaffiliated shows either dont go above that or there are only one or two entries in them

So we want to have a go at BSJA but dont want to spend all that money registering and then not use it so we want to have a go at competing on a ticket. Can anyone tell me how or explain what you have to do asap as she really wants to get out competiting
