BSJA help!

Okay well.. Basicly im a 15 yr old lad and my horse is 16.3 and i was thinking of jioning BSJA. I was wondering if im a senior or junior? I have asked my friends but they arent sure because you have to be over 16 to be a senior but your horse has to be under 14.2 to be a junior?? At local shows i have been a senior but i wasnt sure if the rules are different for BSJA.

Another query is.. How much is it to enter on a ticket in the British Novice class and Discovery class?

Your a senior, you can be from the age of 14

I think a tickets £6 then entries range from £10-13 for BN and about £12 for Discovery.

You must be over 13 years old to ride in senior BSJA classes. As your horse is 16.3hh, you will only be able to compete in senior classes — junior classes are for ponies only. I think the tickets are still £6, plus you'll have to pay the entry fee for the class and any first aid/paramedic levies.

You would definitely be a senior as your over 12 and you are riding a horse. A ticket to ride can vary in cost between £3 and £6, plus the entry fee (about £10) and about £3 first aid. So you are basically looking at about £20 to jump one class, and you will not be entitled to any prize money, but you may get a rosette (depends on how kind the show centre are).

Yeah you would be a junior associate which would mean until you reach the year of your 16th birthday (well 31st December) you can also jump ponies.

I think to jump on a ticket is roughly double the entry fee so for a british novice which is normally about £12 your looking at £24 but I could be wrong!!

The other thing to note that if you register as a junior associate - which you will if your 15 - you will also need to register your mum or dad or whoever owns the horse and ride the horse in their name - only once you turn 16 and become a full jumping member can you jump a horse in your own name! If that makes sense?!?!

Its just another way for the BSJA to rip you off!!

you would be an associate but allowed to jump in seniors as of size of your horse - a parent must also join as a non jumping member

i jumped on a ticket last week and its £6.00 plus the normal charge for BN. check out the bsja website for jumping on a ticket
