I was browsing the BSJA site as my instructor suggested maybe jumping on a ticket this summer, I know my horse jumped BN last year so I did a search for him....it came up with Dream Machine IV, but on his passport and from what I was told he is Dream Machine III...however, the age, height and colour are all correct etc. Do you think it is a mistake on either passport or website??

If you have his passport and he jumped BSJA as a registered horse (i.e NOT on a ticket) last year, then this will have his BSJA registration number overstamped on it. You can check if the number matches or not then

Your passport should be stamped with BSJA mark if he has jumped affiliated, or BSJA will have a record of your passport number. Id call them and double check!

Ah OK thank you, I will check when I get home. Also, do you have to register the horse every year/pay yearly membership or something? I know very little about this and am curious for future reference. He is registered as a pony, but has since grown and is over 15hh...

Yes you have to renew your memebership every year!!

Even if your horse still has a few months left on his membership you will still be asked to renew it as well as join yourself so that he is registered under your name. Thats what i had to do with my old horse.

However my friend carried on jumping her horse under his old owners name until his registration run out as she didn't want to fork out the money!! Dont think your meant to do it like that but she did. On entry forms she just put her as the rider and his old owner as his owner still (if that makes sense

).

Not sure what you would do about him being registered as a pony though, you may have to ring them up and ask about that. You may need to re-register him as a horse.

I thought as much, I can't imagine me doing BSJA any time soon, will have to see how much ability my little lad has before diving in head first, so more than likely his membership will have run out anyway!

It could be that the BSJA already had a Dream Machine III and so he had to be registered with them as Dream Machine IV.
