Hi
Having looked on the BSJA site I am really none the wiser, but someone told me that the pony size to compete affiliated classes on has been raised to 15 hh?
Is this correct?
Also, can anyone inform me of where to find the junior page on the BSJA web site?
Many thanks

pretty sure it hasnt - sure its still 148cm (14.2hh) otherwise my pony would be eligable and im certain he's not

Please feel free to correct me, but I think that so far the decision to raise the height limit for ponies is under FEI (ie international) rules only, and is solely so that the ponies on championship teams can be measured WHILE AT their championship. The 2cm has been added on as a buffer zone as the ponies are obviously being measured under competition fitness/conditions rather than in the off season which is when most ponies are measured for their JMB certificate.

If the BSJA are going to adopt these rules, then I haven't heard this so far.

Agree with Fiona's understanding of the FEI rule change.

BUT - what happens if a pony at the Europeans measures over 148 - it'll be OK for FEI competitions but not for BSJA ones and therefore could only compete at the Europeans and then come home and only jump as a horse?

Perhaps the BSJA are planning to bring in the same rule? Haven't heard of this but the scenario above just doesn't make sense. I think moving the limit up a little is a good idea as many in 128, 138 and 148 are likely a little over.

However, as is the case, the JMB should ensure that ponies (and horses) are measured as accurately as possible for their AHC and LHC so that a LHC means for life. It's crazy for a society such as the JMB to say it's a life certificate and then under certain circumstances say actually they don't trust the vets (or the owners) and re-measure..

If your horse/pony has a LHC then it should stand and new measurements should be done with care as they would be for life.

Gets down off soapbox..

Nope its still 148cm was a rumour that they were going to lift it but nothing been sent in stone as of yet!

As far as the junior section on the BSJA website... there aint one, unless I'm unaware of it!!
