Hi Guys

Who said the off season is boring?

Saf had a small break and about 2 weeks ago jumped BSJA at Pachesham, 1.05 jumped a lovely clear
smile.gif
and softened to the first in the jump off and she was a mare possessed 3 down
frown.gif

Walked the 1.10 and got back on, wamed up and trotted to a rather small cross, well who knows what happened as everyone watching was scratching their heads but somehow either did not take off or did and got it totally wrong and came down, me eating bridle and ears, poor Saf on her knees and poles between her legs
blush.gif

Put that behind us checked her over and in to jump for one down
smile.gif

Next was Steve Hadley lesson, he was great, Saf fab and me less so
tongue.gif
jumped a few courses and it was decided we needed a bit change and a pelham should be tried for next time. I also thought Saf was not quite right, so phisio visit and seems the stumble fall had made her rather sore on the left 1/4 and under the saddle to right shoulder
frown.gif
Few days off then light work and back to normal
grin.gif

So this takes us to this week, bought happy mouth pelham, wanted to try it at home but school too wet
crazy.gif
so no jumping practice
frown.gif

Right, today, first class New/ 1.10 and arrived late so no course walk, new bit, ring rusty, not jumped indoors since feb, no practice or jumping in over 2 weeks, cold.............not sure how many other excuses I can find but 5, YES 5 DOWN, not helped by trotting to the first fence
blush.gif

If it had not been for Elles and Sarahs I would have gone home or possibly jumped HC in the class again, but no they were all for us jumping the Fox our first venture at 1.20 BSJA.

Now I am green and very nearly sick in the tunnel, what was I doing jumping a Fox having had 5 down
crazy.gif
Went in and remembered their comments tried to get her more together, she felt heavy and bearing down in the hand and needed more leg, we did jump so much better for just the 2 down, WOW first Fox out of the way and I was now grinning, not breathing but grinning all the same
grin.gif

So points from today
1. Only 5 mins down the road no excuse to arrive late
2. Don't try new bit at show
3. Trust your friends
grin.gif

4. Sack the muppet rider
ooo.gif
wink.gif

5. Always, always take the tall friend in with you to walk the course
laugh.gif

Huge thanks to Elles and Sarahs

Thanks for reading my ramble, happy Saf's mum
grin.gif

How brave are you?! I had five down in my first Newcomers...I did not stay for the Fox!
grin.gif

Sounds like Saf is going well, am v jealous!

5. Always, always take the tall friend in with you to walk the course
PMSL !!!!!!!!!!!!
"Look they dont even come up to my t*ts " Maybe I should of looked around me brfore I made that comment - knowing my luck Mr Charles was stood behind me at that point !
Well done C, you really got your ar*e in gear in the second round and rode fab !

Just spat my red wine out, skuttles off to find heel risers and uplift bra

grin.gif

Thanks again, could not have done it without you
grin.gif

I only ever jump Fox when I've made a mess of the smaller classes - nothing like the prospect oof those big oxers to get you to ride positively!

If it's any consolation I fell off in the warm-up today.... and in the ring
blush.gif
. Was also in new pelham, v ring-rusty, late and hadn't had a practice at home. My tip is NEVER walk a Foxhunter course. You've almost always done the preceding class and know roughly what the disatances are, even if they change the order around. I'm 5'11 and I'm not going to stand next to those fences.

How come Mr Hadley will do your clincs when he keeps postponing ours?
mad.gif
- twice at latest count.

Bet you're grinning though - big sense of achievement over those fences
grin.gif

Well done for being brave and having ago, and at 1.20 hight wow.... was M there!!!! waitting for yr p.m pls
smile.gif

smile.gif

p.s how tall is S!!!! i can't remember when i meet her but S must be TALL if the 1.20 track came to her T..... lol

The underwire on my bra is 1.20!

Christ I am short - the underwire on mine is bang on 1.10!!

No wonder I am not brave enough to jump fox! I probably couldn't see over them!

Thanks GB, we must be on the same vibe or something today, seems like the same day
laugh.gif

I', only 5'4" and I don't go close up to the fences from front view, walk distances with back to fence making sure I don't touch it
grin.gif

You will love your clinic with Steve when you get it, I really hope you enjoy it, you could always come to ours and stay?

Will have a grin in bed
grin.gif

*ignores the height/body parts references*
blush.gif
well done for getting the Fox out of the way, it'll seem easy next time (still big, but easy).
wink.gif

I feel much better about HH having five down at Tweseldown now I know that SuperSaf has off days too, so thanks for that. Agree re bullying friends making you do stuff you don't want to, but what do I do if I go on my own?
crazy.gif

PMSL, I always do the t*t measurement when walking the course!!

Well done Saf, I don't know who's building at MW at the moment but they are really up to height and technical, I jumped the Newcomers last weekend and there were only 3 clears! Very pleased though cos I was 3rd and 4th!

Thanks Baydale,
think we both were rusty to start and really hope the 5 down was a one off, was so pleased in the fox
laugh.gif
I'm on my own for the next one in 2 weeks and was silly enough to enter yesterday for the 1.15 and Fox
blush.gif
so if there is anyone out there who is tall and fancies walking the course for me, please
grin.gif

Hope your boys are well
grin.gif

Hi BH

Are you at the next one on the 20th? Agree does seem to be big and technical, I spoke with the course builder, can't remember his name tho, fair few pros came to grief with those diamond lilac planks again in the fox, very strange how many horses hate them
Well done on your placings
grin.gif

I always do tit measurement too LMAO!

Well done Saf, enjoy your wine! BTW, I hate happy mouth pelhams, I bought one for Splodge and went out jumping and we had a cricket score, so it is now consigned to the bit drawer!

Not sure about trying the bit again or not, she just felt heavy and almost on the forehand but at least did not run through the bridle, any suggestions? She was in the universal but ran through it the last 3 or 4 strides?
I have a whole box of bits, I'm a magpie
grin.gif

He was like that, heavy and on the forehand, I couldn't get him to sit up on his hocks in it at all. Suggestions - a normal pelham would be my next stop if Stephen reckons pelhams are the way to go, or a kimblewick
smile.gif

I have lots of bits too, I do love them
laugh.gif

Ta Weezy

I go XC in a vulcanite pelham just wanted to save it for Xc if that makes sense?
Think I will try it and see
grin.gif

I am not addicted to bits, must write 1000 times
grin.gif

Oh no, I might have to get another bit
grin.gif
I do have a metal pelham straight bar with curved port?
Need school to dry out so I can play, thank you for the suggestions

I'm adopting Gamebird as my NBF (New Best Friend) and course walking buddy as she'll make them look tiny. I just don't walk them if I think I might be scared, which is pretty much every time.
