ok, so ive been asked to do this presentation on BSJA for college, sort of in the direction of the welfare of the horses.

anyway...
the bits i have to do that i need a bit more material on are:

Competion structure
and
types of membership
(if you could explain what the grades of a horse are and how they are graded wouuld be fantabulous)

oo and also, any rules related to welfare... did i read a post about whipping the other day?

aany help you give will be fantastic... had i been given BE to do i could have whipped it up in a second... but tutor obv did it on perpose!

thank you all you lovely people!

Well, if i gave you those answers i'd have done your assignment for you in 5 minutes flat. The point of college / university is that you go and find out the information for yourself.

Take a look at www.bsja.co.uk

All the answers are there

i have looked on the bsja website and theres nothing there that explains what i am looking for.... and its not like BE, you can't download the rulebook from there... so im kind of stuck...?

Have a google?

I'm writing a dissertation for my Master's at the mo (or at least, I would be if the stuff on here wasn't a lot more interesting) & kind of the point of it is that you have to do your own research.

Look the easiest way to do this assignment is wait for the swot of your class to complete it and then copy it.

LOL!

Isn't that what we're trying to avoid here

the only reason i asked in the first place was to make sure what i thought was right... was...

the only reason i was confused was because i found this document
http://www.bsja.co.uk/_pdfs/BSJAGuidelinesScheduleCategoisation.pdf
and it totally confused me.

i thought that competition structure was just the british novice to the foxhunters? but that document just threw me completely as i have heard about intro classes?

reading my post now it does seem like im asking for all the answers but i actually just wanted you lot to direct me in the right direction...

Well, i'm probably going to break my own rule here and start to answer the question for you....but, Schedule Categorisation was bought in....in my opinion.....for two reasons....

Firstly, to increase membership (and thus revenue) by opening up the BSJA calendar to people who were less able to compete at the lower levels of BSJA as they then were.

And, secondly to increase revenues from show centres by requiring them to pay extra affiliation fees for schedules that encompassed what 'used' to be the standard of 90cm to 1.20m classes !

That said, the Amateur category schedules and classes have been immensely successful...especially in our area...so who am ito be so sceptical
