ok ,ive got the membership form for me and the daughter to join, do i send that off first or do i need to sort the horse reg out at the same time and send it all together?
also regarding the horse will his id thing in his passport suffice or will he need a new one done? ive got to start the horse on a new course of jabs as cant tell when he last had any, will we still be able to register him or will i have to wait 6 months until the course is complete? anything else i should know ?
thanks

Hi,
I sent my forms off all together and used passport for ID, and the BSJA were fine with that. I don't think there are any rules regarding flu jabs but not 100% sure.
Also, how old is your daughter? I think you have to send your birth certificate if you are under 16.

The BSJA don't bother about vaccinations but some shows do so it is a good idea to start them as soon as possible. If you send your horses docs don't forget to send them registered as they are hard to copies if they go missing. I usually have a photocopy of all horse docs to be on the safe side. Its a good idea to send them off together and the horses docs and your daughter's birth cert will be returned pretty quickly. Has the pony got winnings already? If so you may need a Life height certificate for the pony. I have always found them helpful if you give them a ring. I hope you and your daughter have as much fun as we did in ponies - we made some great friends and it changed my son's life as this is how he now earns a living.

thanks for the advice seza....our pony is 16 hands! but she is making noises about me buying her sister ,who has just learnt to jump, a pony thats capable of bsja just so she can get the last 2 years in juniors as well as doing seniors!! i will phone vets tomorrow and get the ball rolling re jabs although it will probably take her 6 months to think of a name for him as the one she uses has been taken.

Send it all off in one go, if you know anyone who is affliated already say that they recommended you then they get £20. Also ask about all the special offers, there are deals if you are new, a junior or a RC member - Might be worth joining a RC for £20. Does your horse have a proper breed passport? If so they will use the name of that.

The name things weird though - I didnt want to use my horses full breed reg name (its very long!!) but they have used it anyway, more trouble for them..... oh well. But then they didnt use my other horses full name (Id shortened it a bit) and I very much doubt there's another horse of the same name out there.

The result of having one reg with his massive long name was that as BSJA at the weekend, the announcer only read out half his name!! I assume they couldnt fit it on the entry list or something.

i will have a look and see what offers are on, ash's friend is affiliated so can say she recommended her. we do belong to a few riding clubs to.. the horse doesnt have breed papers so dont think the name thing will be to much of a problem (except she cant think of one! lol ) thanks for all the information, all ive got to do now is organise his jabs and get his passport put in my name, according to that he is still owned by the M.O.D !
