I made it my goal to have jumped a Newcomers by Easter 2008...........And today I did it!

Went off to Weston Lawns today with the lovely Cazza who has a good knack of talking sense into me when I start panicking myself

The warm up wasn't great, I got bitten on monday (between armpit and boob) so any movement was rather painful and I was dropping my shoulder in an attempt to make myself more comfortable and my riding just went out of the window

Soon got sorted though and we went in.
To say I was terrified was an understatement! But we went in and went clear in the first round, fences 9 and 10 in the JO we jumped okay, but at fence 11 (a double of uprights.......Our favourite

) he jumped far too big over the first element, took one long stride, then a dinky one, but we were in too close to the second element and he clouted the top rail. He jumped fence 12 and 13 (a wacking great 1.20 spread

) perfectly but I asked him for a long one at fence 14 (big upright) and he just rolled the top pole. He was most pleased when he got a mini bag or haribo sweets all to himself when he came out

I'm so thrilled with him, he's such a star and helps me out so much and he jumped his little socks off today despite my awful riding

Well done!!! Newcomers are looking scary to me at the mo, but BN a bit small so i need to get braver I think because I don't think Badge would care!

Really great that you went clear in the first round!! did you do a class before?

Thank you

New goal.........The up and coming young riders class at wales and west in the middle of september which is 1.15m and I was aiming for it in sept 2008

I thought that we brought down fence 3 so when i reached the last fence in the first round I breathed a sigh of relief but the buzzer didn't go so my face went a bit lke this -->

and when I was approaching no.13 I was well and truly crapping myself

how old are you kat?
there is an under 16 class at scope which you dont have to qualify for,
also an under 21 on b and c horses that is non qualifier. i did it last year, got to the main ring and wanted to be sick walking the course for the championship. 1.30 in the final.
im too old for young riders now ( thank god!! far too big)
well done

Thanks

Hey, if I can jump it......anybody can! (bearing in mind 90cm's is my comfort zone limit!). I was really hoping that we'd have a fence in the first round so i wouldn't have to jump off
tongue.gif
I didn't do a class before, I just went straight into the NC

Wow well done - I am sure it was not that long ago that you were getting nervous about BN! We will soon see you doing Foxhunters!

Thanks

Still can't believe I actually did it

Lymp really is a star, he's looked after me so much these last few months
smile.gif
I need to buy him more jelly babies to try and keep him on side

7 months ago a 1ft high cross pole reduced me to tears

But it would be lovely to have jumped my first fox by the time I go back to college (20th ish of sept) but I think I'm starting to get a bit too optimistic!

Hey listen to you. Jumping the Newcomers!!! Well done, you must be really chuffed. I wish I had the nerves to jump Newcomers. I have promised myself that before next season is up , I will be jumping Newcomers too. Do the JOs go to 1.20m then? That is a bit steep. If you are jumping the JOs at 1.20m then the Fox is 1.20m isnt it??? So you are almost there.

All i can say it.. The horse can jump a double clear at Foxhunter if he puts his mind to it... And as I have to hunt this season (including jumping) you can bleeding well do a Foxhunters¬!
