I made it my goal to have jumped a Newcomers by Easter 2008...........And today I did it!
Went off to Weston Lawns today with the lovely Cazza who has a good knack of talking sense into me when I start panicking myself
The warm up wasn't great, I got bitten on monday (between armpit and boob) so any movement was rather painful and I was dropping my shoulder in an attempt to make myself more comfortable and my riding just went out of the window
Soon got sorted though and we went in.
To say I was terrified was an understatement! But we went in and went clear in the first round, fences 9 and 10 in the JO we jumped okay, but at fence 11 (a double of uprights.......Our favourite
) he jumped far too big over the first element, took one long stride, then a dinky one, but we were in too close to the second element and he clouted the top rail. He jumped fence 12 and 13 (a wacking great 1.20 spread
) perfectly but I asked him for a long one at fence 14 (big upright) and he just rolled the top pole. He was most pleased when he got a mini bag or haribo sweets all to himself when he came out
I'm so thrilled with him, he's such a star and helps me out so much and he jumped his little socks off today despite my awful riding
