BSJA Riders- what work program do you use for your horses?

Ahhh Nina- is that right?

A bit naughty to go to another forum- it is just nice to have a wider range of subjects.

Have not seen you a while on the NFED

Im trying to get my horse jumping 1.10 before the outdoor season starts so am jumping 1m and 1.05 3 out of 4 weeks. he tends to have one day off a week, mainly hack, lots of lunging pessoaing, schooling and try and do some polework. Does anyone else find it hard (can see most people are jumping the progressive heights of BSJA) when you go to a show and see the professionals or at least their teams out jumping?! I keep jumping at the same shows as alot of young riders and jobbing riders on their young horses, and i get so dispirited/ nervy in the collecting ring..
*sigh* to be back unaffiliated :P

No, there's no point stressing over it. They are doing it to make a living, we are doing it as a hobby. At the end of the day, if I don't win I don't have to go home worrying about how to pay the mortgage....I just get on the train and go to work to earn some more money

Seriously, it's a hobby for most of us, and while we don't have the strength in depth of horses that some of the pro's do, we can still beat them on our day. Enjoy the fact that you get the chance to compete against people like that....if you were into football you wouldn't find yourself lining up against David Beckham very often now would you

Thank you for that Rambo..The DB point was well made!

at least i know my horse, for all i take him out to shows, is still my 'pet'. have never seen Tim Stockdale leap off his horses and hug them after every clear round...(hehe)

Are you guys finding the Pessoa work is helping? When I got my horse back from the Professional, I had not ridden for five weeks so the horse was super fit and I was like jelly. His rider told me to get the pessoa and use it at least once a week to help his canter as it is weaker due to his size. It took him about five sessions to get the idea and to go without resistance- he has the idea now.

The problem is that I am not fit enough so I am also using the pessoa to 'fill in' to keep his CV work up and maintain that fitness.

Do any of you guys have fitness problems yourselves?

Prittstick- I used to get really nervous but I do not anymore.

I like the fact that I know and trust my horse so well, I do not have anyone to answer to if my horse goes badly.

Furthermore, it is great when your competes against the big names and beats them!

It is a hobby (very expensive) but it is a lifestyle. I can't wait to see my horse every day- if I was a pro I would probably be sick of horses! I have progressed him and myself from BN to fox, and much more hopefully in the next six months, with the help of some really good trainers. When I bought him he would not load and now hops up and down!

I would not have it any other way- besides I would be the worst horse dealer in the world- I would not be able to sell them.
