So today I headed up to Hartpury to jump some BSJA - this after getting my arse kicked in the lesson on Thursday. So I duely walked the course - Hartpury indoor is brill as millions of banners and signs make it easy to pick your lines which is what I got told off about in the lesson.

First did the Discovery - went very well until I got a shocking stride into the second double and had to smack for a random take-off for the second element. However we went clear so as it was single phase got our first DC at Discovery (our second BSJA DC ever). Wouldn't you know it - my last DC was a 1.05 class in the summer - was never going to be quick enough against the diesel horses so no placing....this time I thought I was at least in with a shot as my time was very close to that for second in the BN....nope, way too slow, no placing. Booo!!

Then the 1.05 open - he jumped beautifully but had both sets of planks down. Rider must sit up and take a pull more quickly!

However a great day out - really felt like I had done him justice today and ridden much better than normal, which is the object of doing it at the moment.

Well done you! I went down to take a peek at Badgworth at 10.30am and they had just 11 entries for discovery dashed back and they were still going on discovery so entered that and 1m amateurs as 1.05 was not going to be coming along quickly. Much prefer single phase damn jump offs!

Me too, I hate JOs! Plus not very helpful as whole point of that lesson was planning ahead and you cannot walk the JO now can you?!

Hand next Sat for more of the same, then dressage on the Sunday...exhausting!

I have entered dressage for next Sunday. Feel like slitting my wrists now!
My mother watched the video from today and criticised I soooo want to stick her on my horse slap him on the rump and tell her to do it! Unfortunately she would never remember the course as hunting does not have numbers.

Unfortunately its being so god damn mediocre that forces you to get off your arse! A consistent record at novice of coming 20th is not the way forward! I want points!

Ah yes, I said hello to your sis and A on the way back from the CR and they did not recognise me then your other sis was warming up Spot so I said Hi again and re-introduced myself!

Your sis did well in the BN on the baby horse - my friend who I gave a lift too beat her though

Those wavy planks were evil and the other ones were my fault. We are slowly improving, I will manage clears in 2 classes one day....

And aint that the truth! I would not be bankrupting myself and surviving on 6 hours of sleep a night, would not have persuaded the OH to join me to a gym (it is cheap but £15 a month is still a class or a lesson!) and be spending every moment planning training if I was actually any blinking good at it! I do not want another season of coming 20th, it is too rubbish!

Cannot remember if I saw that or not - did see a few people fall off.

The lighthouse planks were pretty mean - not just a wavy pattern but actual wavy planks of wood!

'surviving on 6 hours of sleep a night'

Now that is going too far!

Are you trying to have a social life and compete at the same time?

You need to start jumping newcomers that never starts until the afternoon and forget all the stupid BE lark

Not sure about Newcomers yet - am in a happy comfort zone of discovery and 1.05 opens!

Also was taking a friend today and she was doing BN and discovery hence the early start!!

Awww well done. Those blanks are indeed evil! Are you doing JAS there in a couple of weeks?

I was planning to go today, but in the end couldn't make it, even though I'm in desperate need of some practise. I was rather hoping it would be incredibly busy and miserable, so that I wouldn't be missing out on much!

It was busy but not too miserable - we left at 1pm and I was second in to the 1.05 open so very busy in the morning.

As for those planks, B has only ever seen a fence like that with brush on it so I am assuming he thought his feet might go through it?!

I cannot be arsed with JAS - it is expensive and on a horse like B I don't think I'll get very far as our problem is maintaining a decent rhythm and making sensible rider decisions (like actually riding rather than being a passenger in the SJ!). Think it is also possibly the same day as birthday lunch for OH? Might be wrong though as really did not look into it this year. Oh and small problem of horse not yet re-registered as I am spending all my money on diesel and BSJA!!

Sounds like you had a good day!!

I was there for the 1.05 and newc on HG's grey mare.. we had 4 faultitus today!

My friend went Ar$£ over T£$ at the lighthouse planks apparently - on a grey horse.

Thanks Mat - I did. I saw all kinds of people today who made me think of you, even though we have not met....

You can come next time- we had a bit of a horse shortage as Mustard decided his foot hurt and sister wanted to ride her own horses as we had Mark P lesson the next day.
Will organise something for easter when sister is away!

So which will be your first event of the season? (where, following on from your busy winter, you will win six points)

Ha ha ha ha ha - only if they give them out for trying hard! Aldon Novice for me, though I am gutted as I desperately wanted to go to Gatcombe this year (as it is my closest event) but G1 is 4 days after Aldon and G2 has moved weekends from last year and now clashes with a friends bloody wedding. Why the hell people a)have to get married and b)cannot do it in the sodding winter rather than smack in the middle of the eventing season I do not know!! I sort of feel compelled to go to Aldon as if my dressage and SJ are up to it then Aldon CCI* is my season's goal....a sort of grand finale (I have always wanted to do an international 3 day and have it into my head that it must be done before I turn 30....)

Sadly not - its my flatmate from uni who may just see through that as she is.....(wait for it)....a doctor! It's not that I don't want to go....but I also want to go to Gatcombe!!

Hey no one said hello to me

Didn't spot DD (would only recognise with Dolly anyway!)

Mind you, I lost part of my trademark pink bridle as itchy horse broke the noseband on the trailer!!

I deffo did not see you - or did not note a pink bridle anyway! DD was not there - her two sisters and brother in law were though! A very pretty girl asked me how I did when I came out of the 1.05 - I wondered if that was you actually as I overheard her talking to DDs sister as I came out and HHO was deffo mentioned...
