Today was our BSJA debut. Slightly nervous as hes becoming far more opinionated when it comes to jumping and that our turning to the right isnt as good as it could be.
I have bearly left the floor recently and only around 2ft6 as we've been trying to improve his canter.
Anyway, like Boss had a slight problem first off as Snoop refused to load arghhh! even the new chiffney failed *now for sale - bit not horse*
Anyway, one of YO's tried and tested ways worked and he bound up and we set off only 10 mins late.
Arrive and there are already a fair few - we entered the 85cm open. He warmed up well but all the fences were off the right rein arghhh! anyway little trooper behaved and we jumped well before going into the arena.
He was totally grown up and bound around positively flying. Up the final line and just knocked out the 2nd last fence (fence 11 as it was two phase).
We then went back to the lorry and loaded him again, he messed around on the box and reared again (same as when we arrived) and he has his feet on top of the outside tack locker
We then pin him down with two extra ropes which soon stopped his gallop
It was finally time to walk the next class where we were to run HC. His old owners were there as they had 4 horses to ride so they were asking all about him too....added pressure....
Anyway walked the course, totally in our capability but like the 85cm which was a good 1m in the jump off, the BN jump off was a fair size - when we've only been jumping 2'6 recently.
YO warmed us up again, got rather carried away with the height of fences - the final oxer was a good 1.10m and probably the biggest ive jumped on him. He just tapped it out, so i came again this time there was no way he was gonna touch it and gave it so much height he went higher than the actual wings
YO just smiled lol
So we went in, he jumped a bloody blinding round, but unfortunately nothing to back him off, we missed on 3 fences and all 3 fences we had down.
I have been told i look after him too much so i have been practing (over smaller stuff) to leave him well alone. So i did, so although the fences came down he never stopped or thought about doing so.
He was superb today, i couldnt have asked for anything better, he napped a bit to the door in the first round, but in the 2nd he was totally ready for the job. Plus we had a fast time without even trying lol
Shall put the pictures in the gallary.
Thanks for reading.
