When you've paid a total of £179 to affiliate your horse & rider you would hope that BSJA would bother to update their records wouldn't you?

My lad had a double clear Discovery on 27th October & so far 3 Wednesdays have gone by without them bothering to update their records. Apparantly on their site they say they update at 12.00hs each Wednesday.....last week they updated at 09.11hrs this week they haven't bothered, no update at all

Are they really too busy to keep their records up to date....I swear it's getting worse. They don't even bother answering emails either

we can only update when the show centres send us the results in.............................

also BE have no where near the amount of shows we run............

regards
BSJA

They don't seen to realise that a record of the horses is very important to owners, at a glance you can see if they are qualified for second rounds etc....additionally it assists when selling a horse to have a complete & current record of achievemant to show prospective purchasers.

A they wonder why thay have to do specialoffers to get people to join...... if the full truth regarding the apparant lack of organisation was known it's a wonder anyone would join.

Size-eight...... the show centre sent the results in ages ago...it's BSJA not being on the ball....yet again!!

Plus I sent an email in to BSJA regarding this a week ago but haven't had the politeness of a reply.

I have also had the same problem, knowing that the show centre HAS sent the paperwork. The last time I went out, yet again, my results weren't updated. I haven't bothered renewing this year as I don't get very much for my money.

I have had the same problem, my boy won a British Novice 3 weeks ago, show centre have sent results in BSJA not updated there site. It is still showing me as needing to pay my membership, that was paid last week!!! Terrible considering how well BD and BE do with there site, there's are much more comprehensive than the BSJA!

BSJA are the most money grabbing out of the 3 organisations.

Size Eight - why isn't it free? I know it is if you own the horse and are currently registered, but why not other horses? All I do is phone up your office and probably annoy the girls in the office getting them to read the horses record out for me over the phone. Is that cost effective?

The Irish do it for free and also the records are far better than the BSJA ones

My horse was registered via the dealer before I bought him. I thought to change the reg to my ownership I could just e mail bsja... But no, I have to pay ANOTHER year's reg to them altho he's already fully reg'd.

How greedy is that?? But the thing is, I've been feeling rather forgetful lately & I think I might 'forget' to do it until his current reg has run out.

Rosie's just sold one of hers but although they bought her last May/June or thereabouts, she always jumped her BSJA under her previous owner's name 'cos why would you bother to change it.

Exactly...if we win anything it will still go on Adrian's card & it will all get transferred over when I eventually 'remember' to sort it out...

The only prob is that the renewal will go to the dealer & not me.

It appears that size-eight hasn't got any answers to the various complaints raised in this thread.........I'm glad I'm not the only one who has waited for 3 weeks & still haven't had my record updated despite the venue having sent the details through.

BSJA need to clean up their act......Size-eight was trying to blame the venues for not sending the results. I accept that on occasions this may happen.....but I think it's about time they looked at their internal procedures because something isn't working within their offices.

& they ignore emails sent complaining or asking questions.....unless you are asking about membership of this 'organisation'

Interested to find that at least 1 member of BSJA staff has started to use the Forum.

Perhaps if they spent a little less time surfing the internet, they might have a little more time to upload the latest results

Think it's a total rip off that you have to pay to view the prize money your horse has won in the past and you're not now a member. This info is only available for a few days and then you have to pay if you want to view it again!! I was right peed off with that as I don't have a printer.

Twas good therefore that I could cut and paste the document into Excel.

I've always thought that the BSJA were tight. If it moves, charge it!

Ha, this my biggest rant with the BSJA! Last year it took them 6 MONTHS to update my record! And even now, I believe my last thing on my record was March!! Hmmm....!

Last year when I phoned them to complain about my record they said it was up to me to keep my own record. I do, but thats NOT the point! Especially when it comes down to notional etc. it does get confusing. Eventually they updated it but it was wrong! They sent me a letter trying to fine me for jumping a class I wasnt eligible for (sorted it in the end, it was their error of course) and refused point blank to add 2 other placings I know I got, one of them a win.

Most of the time, I dont even know when BSJA is. It's basically known through word of mouth in my area. We have a Scottish BSJA site but its rarely updated and very rarely lists ones up here anyway! As for results, never ever get to see those.

They are utterly useless. I still do BSJA though as what choice do we have! But compared to BE who have results up the same evening and dont charge to see everyones records, well it puts BSJA to shame.

when ever i bought a pony that was already registered i never put it in my name until pony registration had run out. i used to have to pay for my daughter to be a junior member me to be a non jumping member and then to register the ponies and if you want the show schedule updates you have to buy them yearly as well. if you look on the irish (sjai) it is much better than ours and it is free to see a pony/horse record.

Have to agree about paying to view records.

When I got my Grade B I emailed Irish SJ assoc and received an email back the same day with an attachment detailing every comp he had entered, how many in the class, his faults for each round of the class and final psoition.
ALL FOR FREE.

Come on BSJA, you are the most expensive to join yet still charge for the info others give for free. Atleast allow members access to all horse records FOC

I'm not a member of BSJA and I have to say part of the reason I haven't joined is the fact that any information on the structure of the sport, where classes are, qualifications, eligibility, and so on is just so difficult to obtain. Their website is truly appalling, particularly the schedule area. Why is it so difficult just to list the competitions in date order with class information like BE and BD do? I just can't be bothered frankly!!

I write as an enthusiast, not an owner or rider. Used to be a non-jumping member but gave up after many years as it was a lot of money for nothing except rule book and badly produced quarterly magazine with very old news in it. I'm often critical of the BSJA, but in fairness have to say that the rule book is at least freely available online, and inclues all the information about eligibility for classes etc. While I agree that the schedule information is not ideal - you need to access each area individually - I'm grateful that the information is there again. For several months following the introduction of their new "improved" IT, the Shows section had NO information at all!

Hmm, i've never found the rule book!! must go and have another look.
i do still think the schedule is very lazily handled though - yes you probably can find the information but it's SUCH hard work and very confusingly presented in comparison to BE and BD. Just my opinion though

After that response from BSJA, any company moving forward might think to save time it would be better for the shows to add in their own results and do spot checks to ensure they are correct, or validate them when they arrive??

Its what most business do, identify a weak spot and do something about it rather than coming up with excuses as to why there is a problem

A few weeks back I paid to see my mares results, I had actually forgotten and wanted to know what she had accumulated when younger. However on BE I can go on the site and see exactly what I needed

Isnt BD the same, if not a full member you have to pay to search by horse or rider?

It all seems a bit of a joke really as the results are already there, they dont even have to go find them!

Yep. Totally agree with that.

And having had a horses that I only jumped indoors why not introduce half year membership like I believe BE do.

Amazing how on the ball they are though with fines if you inadvertently jump a horse in a class it's not eligible for - which with notional winnings and the BSJA being so slow updating their records is not that difficult to do ...

They've updated my record !!!
smile.gif

It's only taken 3 weeks, 2 emails, but not even the courtesy of a reply to my emails. Their customer service is a disgrace...& they wonder why people don't bother renewing their membership! They should take their head out of their ar*e & look at the way the other organisations manage their records & hopefully they'll learn something. Possibly even address their problems & not try & turn it around as if rider getting double clears or winning classes that they have to record are causing the problems.

They have updated mine as well! Nearly fell off my chair when i looked! It really is a rubbish website and needs some serious upgrading and a rethink of the whole membership thing. I have not received a BSJA magazine for over a year, despite complaining about it!

Oh and my 4 year old is still listed as parents not known, even though his passport was sent in at the time of registering :bangshead:

Don't the judges send the results in immediately after the show. I only say this as I'm a BSJA judge, and I always put my results in the post on a Monday morning, to be received by yourselves by Tues/Weds. (As do other BSJA judges that I know)

ive had a similar experiance i jumped a double clear, was placed and won a bit of money nearly four weeks ago now. i also jumped a double clear to weeks ago and still nothing on the site
