BSJA...worth joining to add value to horse?

Now seeing as its 50% off joining for new members this year im toying with the idea of joining BSJA with my mare.

Now shes 15.1hh roan mare, 12 this yr, excellent in all ways, perfect manners, hacks alone or in company, as bombproof as they come (we hack past the heroford and worcs shooting ground when their shooting and its so so so loud!) Given me my confidence back jumping to such an extent that im considering BSJAing with her! She goes off any stride and sorts herself out, isnt stong and maintains a constant rhythm. pretty much anyones ride, my little sister who cant ride sits on her and wlks her round the feild and i can get on and go haring round a xc course! Done a bit of everything with her really.

But i need to sell her next summer as im off to uni after my gap year this year. So my question is will the fact that she is BSJA registered increase her value? Or will the fact that shes 13 rather than 12 when i come to sell even out any increase? and as shes only 15.1 is she that bit too small for anyone to buy for BSJA? i know it sounds really really heartless but if i can persuade my mum that keeping her for another year is worth it then i may be able to borrow money off her for my gap year rather than selling her this summer.

Also how much do you think she is worth now and could possibly be worth with some success BSJA next year in the novice classes?

oh and what would you do with your horse for 4 weeks and again for 6 weeks while you were away? is it possible to find a very short term loan?

I don't think you'll get back the money you pay for BSJA registration at this late stage in her life....so wouldn't bother.
There are loads of BSJA Grade C's for sale...

I don't think it would add massive value to her given her age but what I think it would do is make her marketable.
People will be able to see that she is 12/13 and obviously sound and out there doing it!
I would estimate that at 13 and with (for arguements sake) £50 BSJA and her 4 double clears at BN she would be in the £3500 bracket as a PC/RC horse, if she can do a decent dressage and xc you might be able to add another couple of hundred.
 
i couldnt find anywhere for my horse when i went away to uni so was forced to leave him at home with mum, retired, which he HATED!
 
At her age probably wouldn't add too much. The other thing to consider is that at the moment she is eligible for all the PC/RC Novice classes as she has no BSJA winnings which is probably the sort of home she would end up in, so be careful you don't win too much BSJA with her and restrict the market you can sell her in
 
I think that the only thing that being a member of BSJA would add to your horse is that there would be a 'record of achievement' available for what she has done. So many adverts claim ther horse had done this & that but there is little to back up the claim. You see a horse advertised as jumping newcomers etc but the photo shows them jumping a cross pole? At the age your horse is though there would be little to be gained by joining.
 
i wouldnt have thought so with her age and looks worse if you have no winnings 2. You are prob better off selling her as an honest reliable rc type and will advertising her for what she is !! (she sounds nice)

The 4 - 6 week loan - i dont think you would have much success to be fair, try a friend or livery x
 
I wouldn't reg her. She's already 12 so personally Id try to get her to lots of riding club or pony club things until you sell her, and as many different disiplines as you can - then you can see her as a decent allrounder which sell easily.
