I am looking at registering my 14.2 welsh sec D as a horse. I am 20 so obviously out of ponies.
We are currently jumping club classes which although they run up to 1m, don't seem to go above 80 in my area.
Can someone please help me with how to register as a horse ? Do I need a height certificate ? This is all new to me.
All help would be appreciated.
I am aware of striding etc etc but not looking at going super big so shouldn't be a problem.

You will find affiliated will be better run, with properly built tracks to a particular spec. The course builder is trained to build a track to a certain standard to encourage and engage competitors.

Its a great progression and you will find it a bit of a shock when you first start competing as its completely different to unaffiliated and it was an eye opener for me! No clacky over reach boots or rainbow saddle cloths or kamikaze jumping over practice fences whilst shouting for someone dragging a dog around to get out of the way. Just everyone knowing where they are, where they should be, how they should warm up, polite and respectful and competetive. Organisation is way better and judges are very good and have to be to acertain standard.

. I competed BSJA for a number of years on three different horses and found it challenging and exciting and very professional in the way the shows were run.

Get a rule book - you'll get one on joining and read it. It explains everything in detail along with the comps you can enter and the rules surrounding heights and widths and number of fences, etc.

You can register directly as a horse as long as the pony is above 142cm. They are usually very helpful on the phone or via email if you have any questions!

We compete our 14h Nf as a horse as daughter an adult, not a problem but you can’t switch between being a horse or a pony from one week to the next
He manages the horse strides fine even the doubles when ridden forward
You especially want to look out for Category 1 shows which start with either an open 80cms class or the amateur 85cms qualifier class
Courses are so much better with decent spreads to get you up in the air and there’s prize money and a record of your horse’s achievements, we’ve been out today and won £36 so entries covered bar first aid

Do I need a height certificate done to prove he is over 14.2 ?

How did you go about doing it ? Did you have to get someone official to height check ?
I am also worried about what everyone else will think about a pony jumping seniors as not really seen many in my area, are people normally ok with it ?

We registered him as a grade C and turned up with our card( now digital) and entered which basically declares your competing as a horse. No height certificate only required if registered as a pony, it used to be after you’d won a bit
