I have been looking at the Bucas 'power turnout' as I like the idea of the warmth in varied temps and the stay dry lining.

However... I have found a 'light' one and an 'all in one' a 'turnout extra classic' and some in 2007 style- whats the difference?!
Can 1 rug really do all this?

Also I'd probably put an older rug (light) over the top to protect the Bucas from scrapes and my youngster- is this defeating the object of this rugs purpose?

I had one for my cob but wasn't very impressed to be honest especially as they are very expensive. It didn't fit her well and slipped alot. It also didn't seem to keep her warm. I'd probably spend that money on a horseware duo or the weatherbeeta alternative where you can get different weight under layers xxxx

I love these rugs, the only thing I would say is that they do not fit the bigger shouldered horse as well as some others. They do make them in a large neck size if requested.

I would imagine the 2007 design is probably a different colour or something.

My horse has 2 bucas rug, the sun shower which is a ok fit on him and the smartex big neck which is ok, but he would not get away with a normal size in the Smartex - he is a clydesdale x highland and has whooping big shoulders!

The sun shower is great for showery weather and the smartex for everything else.

I should be on commission!

Oh you too! I spent hours at the weekend poring over the different types of Bucas rugs and wondering whether to go for the all-in-one classic or the light. In the end I ordered the all-in-one classic as there is a wider range of temperature and it's better than worrying whether he'll be too cold or too warm.

I already have an older Bucas rug but find they do come a bit small on the shoulders so have ordered one size bigger. It fits my horse a lot better than Horseware or Fal and I have been very pleased with it generally.

I'd contact the site you've seen the rugs on. I've been looking at them and it's a little confusing. I bought a Smartex last year and it was more straight forward. I'm assuming that the 2007 listed one is now old season and not new colours so they're reduced to sell. That sort of thing doesn't bother me though as they still do the job!

I think the all in one has the neck attached, the classic has a detachable neck and the light is as it says a lighter weight rug. But don't quote me on that one!!!

The Bucas rugs we've had (not many as they really do last) have been used on TB and TB types and have fitted well. They are excellant and you can do as they say.

I can answer this, only because I spent ages at the Bucas stall at Hickstead.

2007 -it's a different style infront. It has two clips rather than the updated one which has one.
I assume the colours change too.

The smartex lining is fantastic. You can stick it on a wet/sweaty horse and the lining wicks away the moisture. The only problem is trying to straighten the rug when the horse is fully clipped as the short spikey hair gets trapped on the lining.

The light version is just a plain no fill t/o rug.
The all in one is a super heavy weight.
The classic is just the cut, so it's a standard cut over the wither.

I have the smartex rain which is essentially a slightly cheaper version of the power light. It's not very deep so does look a little short on my big mare, but any normal sized horse would suit it. I found it plenty big around the shoulders.

The rug is very strong and I would say that by putting on a rug on the top you may lose some of the benefits.

Contact these people as they are very helpful & will be able to answer anything.
