Hi, there's only older threads here on these so I wanted to check what people thought about them.

I'm considering getting one for my boy, he's living out 24/7 and if I can really put these on him while he's still sweaty that would solve a lot of problems!

Can anyone comment on how they fit? My boy is about 15h but rather on the round side and he's got big shoulders. He's got a Rhinegold in 6'6'' which fits him quite well and his Weatherbeeta is a 6'3''

Many thanks.

Have got the smartex medium weight one.
Horse is 15h cob and quite heavy.
Weatherbeater 6'3 are a tad small but the 6'3 bucas fits fine.
I didn't go for the extra wide shoulders but the fit is good on the normal one, not too tight but not large around neck either. Lived out in it all last winter and was super.
Put it on wet horse after riding in rain with no issues.
Was thinking about a smartex rain one for the mild wet weather.

Thank you, that helps a lot. I’ll try the smartex rain one, according to h5eir temperature guide that should keep him warm till 0 degrees. If it fits he’ll get a warmer one for Christmas

I have them for my rather long backed section D, he is 15:3hh and takes a 6'6" they are lovely rugs and fit really well on quite a large shoulder. I have a brand new Heavyweight Celtic 6'6" for sale (horse now retired so will never be clipped again so very unlikely to need such a warm rug) if you are interested.

Yeah, maybe. I’ll see how the lightweight fits him.

Have had to put a few Buccus rugs on horses, personally I don't like them as they did not fit the horses very well who wore them.

I'm a recent convert for none of mine who has larder shoulders but a small neck. So far they are fitting beautifully and haven't rubbed at all. I have an Irish turnout and a power cooler. If she behaves she'll be getting one of the posh silver magic ones for Christmas :)

I love the fit on my horse. He is a 15.3hh chunky DxTB with big shoulders. I use the select with the different liners. I would love a Celtic stable rug, but need to save up!!!

I’m a convert to bucas - especially because can avail of outlet rugs online :p

Really love the half necks, I much prefer them. Nice quality rugs that fit well! Horse very happy :)

The best. That is that. I really really love them and building chilli's wardrobe up has been incredibly satisfying. The Select quilt range is brilliant. LOVE THEM

Love my Bucas rugs, especially the way they fit at the front which doesn't leave that gaping V shape for the rain to trickle down and they have a great fit on the shoulders..

Current horse has a power cooler and a freedom turnout, which he wears in the stable. It is a great rug, fits beautifully and he seems to find it less comfortable. The power cooler was less of a success, as although it fits fine across his shoulders and the length is right, it's just too small around the neck and he gets irritated by it. Wish they did a big neck in that style but they don't. I am gutted as it's such a useful rug, and my last horse got tons of wear out of his. He also had a celtic stable light with the stay dry lining. There were many times I hadn't clipped as promptly as I should have done and had to wash him down after work in cold weather, and the rug was perfect for that, so much so that I could wash his sweaty bits down after riding in the evening and then rug up for the night straight away.

Yeah, saw those, I'd love to get one of these as well!!! Shame they're so expensive, I want to buy him so many :)

Just to give you an update, his new posh rug arrived yesterday and I'm absolutely in love with it! I've ordered him a 6'3'' which fits (phew!!!) and I'm really impressed with the quality and how it's made!

Just need the weather to get colder now to be able to put a rug on him - it's so warm at the moment, poor boy is sweating quite a bit - might do a top-up clip tonight!

Thank you everyone or your help!
