I've had Horseware rugs for years but my youngster is doing weird things to the twist clip fastenings that Amigos and Rhinos have now. I got her a disc front rug and quite like it but wonder if we would be better off going to Bucas instead... I just had a look at their site and it looks as though the hoods fasten on with strips of Velcro like the older Horseware rugs. I have one of these and hate the fastening - I've ended up just never taking the hood off that rug because it's such a faff. Am I correct in thinking that's how make all of theirs? If I did try a Bucas, how would sizing match up - the horse wears 6'6 Amigos but her Rhino is only 6'3.
Many thanks!

Size wise I’ve found them similar (Bucas maybe slightly longer). The quality and design of both is good. I don’t have hoods for my Bucas, but I think they are Velcro attachments. For me the biggest problem is that the Bucas aren’t right for my horses shoulders. She gets sore. The v shape at the front of her Rambo just seems better. Pity, but think I’m going to have to sell my Bucas.
My mare is a cob, short coupled, And broad across her chest.

I’ve just bought a bucas. What’s impressed me most is that my pony feels the same warmth under it at 9 degrees as she does at 0. I’m not sure what the point of the magnetic bit at the front is but it’s a good quality rug. She has Horseware and WB rugs and it fits similarly. She hasn’t got a massive chest so perhaps that’s why it fits so well.

The turnouts have two velcro strips to attach the neck, the select liner type stable rugs have two velcro tabs. It only takes seconds to fit. They are fab rugs, as stated, keep temperature well regulated, no need to layer rugs even in this weather, and remain lightweight even when wet. Fit my wide chested, big shouldered horse very well, never rub. Horseware rugs are too tight over the shoulder on mine, so sorry, cannot compare them.

I bought a Bucas sweet itch rug last summer, after years of Horseware (I don't know what made me do this as Horseware are great on my horse) and the chest strap was so high up and tight I had to go back to the old Horseware. It was practically strangling him when he grazed. My horse is a broad-chested Welsh cob, so if yours is a similar build I would advise against Bucas rugs. They seem to be made for narrow thoroughbreds. It is a nice rug though, just beware of the fit round the chest.
