So, two on my bucket list....must do before I cannot do! Any ideas? I would really like to just go a few furlongs on the flat, as it was my dad who was a jockey that got me into horses from a very very early age.....and the other bucket list...gymnastics on horseback. Again, any ideas? Offers please would be much appreciated. I am a competent rider, willing to pay, oh and also another bucket list...archery and driving....blimey so many horse experiences to be had!!....many thanks cheers

Vaulting - Valley Farm, Suffolk does lessons. Contessa, Herts is still doing vaulting too, I believe.

Archery - several places do lessons. The Centre of Horseback Combat is the first place that comes to mind; they do full day courses.

Driving - again, several places do lessons. Whereabouts are you located? Someone on here might be able to recommend a place.

Whereabouts are you?

Riders of the Storm in Pitlochry, central/Highland Scotland so vaulting experience camps, and they teach trick riding too, all on their amazing looking horses. Get in touch, they may be able to help with the archery and gymnastics as a combo!

For vaulting I am in touch with the group on Shropshire and my daughter (9, horse rides and does gymnastics) is on the waiting list for a have a go session. If you go on vaulting GB you will find their contact details.
For driving experience look up the Cheshire Carriage &Co/Huddart Heavy Horses, they're in Audlem so less than an hour from Stafford. I did a day there last year and they put on really yummy food with it. Highly recommend it!
I sent my husband jousting a few years ago, it was somewhere near Warwick. He was a beginner rider and still loved it.

For racing you could look into riding in a charity race. You have to commit to raising sponsorship and pass a physical, plus learn to race ride, so it's quite a commitment.

If you ride well normally you could offer to ride out at a racing or pointing yard. There are a few by me who often advertise for riders with no racing experience necessary.

The Knights of Middle England run jousting and other courses in Warwick. I'm booked on a 3 day course with them in November which includes horse archery and trick riding, amongst other things.

Just bumping this thread to highly recommend the Mounted Specialist Skills course with the Knights of Middle England. I had a fantastic 3 days of cavalry riding, riding 1 handed using neck reining, jousting, quintain work, horse archery, tent pegging trick riding and sword work. The instructors are brilliant and the horses really well trained. If you're looking for something completely different to try definitely give this a go

40 years ago I'd have jumped at that.

Most of the stuff we did was at a fairly sedate pace. The most difficult thing was the trick riding.

The instructors don't force you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable and will adapt things to suit individuals.
