Only some times, after a fence my horse will put his head down and buck! Very uncomforable, never got me off (yet!) but yesterday at a show, I pulled him up after a fence and he smaked me in the arm.
Just wondering why he might do this. Its not all the time and he's never done it during a round, just in the warm up. Thought it might be excitement, but he does it at home aswell.
I wouldnt have thought its a back problem as he is fine in every other way and 8 times out of ten he jumps beautifully.

My mare does the same and its only occasional, like this weekend we had a lesson and the was squealing and bucking most the time lol...she has done it all her life so its just excitement

My horse does this sometimes, often just because he's feeling well and enjoying himself (does it mostly at home), he also does it if I mess things up and he has to put in a bit extra effort, it's like he's telling me off!

Winstons old owner sold him because he was a sod for bucking after his fences.
He did it at the weekend round the xc just through excitment.
He only ever does it when hes enjoying himself or if he hits a fence!

I think there are 3 main kinds of bucking. If you can work out what type it is, then it is much easier to work out what to do about it.

The 'fun' buck
Usually reduces with maturity and regular work. Nothing to worry about really.

The 'resistant' buck
Naughty. Proper schooling and assertive riding needed.

The 'I'm going to bury you' buck
Rare. The intention is to land you on the floor - difficult to deal with. Usually related to pain or panic.
