Hi everyone,
Did a few really basic things with horse last night and he was baffled so have decided to start again. Jumped up and down next to him and he was really freaked out!! Also left his saddle on the floor in his stable and he was sniffing and snorting at it so I don't think he's ever seen one other than had one thrown on him! Also put saddle on and flapped the flaps about and touched him all over and he wasn't happy at all.... Have now decided to start from scratch and do all the basics again. Frustrating but necessary i think!
I'm moving to a new yard in two weeks where there is 24hr turnout in a herd of 8. much better for a 3yo! They also have a school and you can ride in the fields on the premises if you want so i wont have to go straight out on the roads when we start hacking in a few months.
Thank you all for your advice. My gut was telling me to start again before I got on him the first few times and I think this is the best solution. He's a very fast learner anyway and loves to learn so it's not that he doesn't like things - it's just that he's never been taught!
