What am I looking at, I’m in no rush so can wait til prices return to normal, is £4k doable?

Doesn’t necessarily have to be a full ID, open any sort of draughty/weight carrier type.

No grand plans for the future, just low level all rounder stuff. Decently put together and a nice person are the only essentials! Oh and no greys ?

I don’t I’m afraid as I have not personally bought from any so couldn’t recommend (or warn)

my best advice is to have a 5*vetting with bloods though, and trawl the dodgy sites.
Fair warning also, the market here is insane at the moment and many horses sell within mins of being posted. That type in September will sell very very fast coming to hunting season. It might be worth starting to look now at dealers and agents who you can build a relationship with.

Good luck with your search I think you’ll find something suitable. I bought my boy straight from the local breeders when he was 3 years old, 6 years ago and was in your budget, he’s lovely but grey !
maybe search the breeders direct or look on the Irish draught website ?

The sales are on again here in Ireland - Cavan, Mullingar, etc. You could easily purchase a nice young horse with your budget. All horses in the catalogue are vetted and you can request a second vetting at your expense. Transporters attend and you can expect to pay circa £300 to UK. The catalogue also gives contact details for the seller so you could ask for more info to inform your decision to bid or not.

There are at least 3 I would look at on there.

There’s an Irish horse agent on my Facebook from the New Rider days. I would trust her to view, try and buy for me when the time comes, prices in England seem to be a bit silly in some areas, but reasonable in others. Bloody minefield!

Curious as to which ones? I like 'Turbo Cob' and also quite keen on the chestnut she has too but only the one pic.

Thanks everyone, the way horses are selling at the moment I might give it a few weeks then start looking so I don't fall in love and end up disappointed! I really can't commit to buying before September...although I could put a deposit down if they're happy to hold, I'm a bugger for talking myself into stuff when I should be sensible, lol.

I enquired about one that caught my eye, was 2900euros. The same guy seems to be selling a few on the Irish draught Facebook group

So much for a 3yo RID, viewed a horse last night and put a deposit down - 4yo, 15.1hh cob, he'll be hogged and trimmed up once he's filled his frame out a bit, he's still rather babyish but is out on good grass so he'll be a different horse by the time I collect him in a month. He's Irish so I got one thing ticked off my original list!!

Thanks everyone :)
