im looking for a horse to event my budget is 4500 is that enough for a eventer or do i need more iv been and looked at a few but all her but ie kissing spine sarcoides weaves. etc
I want something that will also show im sick of sellers been timewasters and not including silly things in ad surley should be stated if horse has a vice

It depends on what level you want to event at and/ or what age of horse you are looking for as to whether your budget is sufficient. Many people dont mention things in adverts which will put people off so its adviseable when you ring up to enquire to ask specifically about vices and explain politely that you will not take on something with a health condition, extreme ridden vice or serious stable/handling vice. also slip into conversation that you would get a vetting. The seller then has no reason to waste their or your time getting you to look at a horse with a condition/vice you wouldnt purchase it with. Some still might but hopefully it would weed out most :).

We found something in that budget, but we also saw a lot of horses with problems, even when I asked questions on the phone they still didn't tell me anything until I saw it for myself! You'd be looking at something young and fairly green with scope but unproven, or a been there done that but without the potential to go further.

An eventer for £4500 ...

You been looking at a moderately talented (PN/N potential) 5yo that had done a bit of unaff

A 6-10yo allrounder that had done some unaff/intro and was nothing special

A teenager reached it's limits and looking to step back a level

A bloody good Novice/Intermediate schoolmaster with a 'but' - veterinary issue etc
