After searching through loads of posts on fly/bug rugs trying to work out which to buy, have a question that might sound divvy!!

Im probably totally wrong but there are a lot of metallicy type rugs out and would have thought they'd attract the sun more resulting in overheating. But if they did surely they wouldnt be made / sold / bought.?? So not sure whether to go for a white one.

Can someone please advise,

Many thanks

well my horse haeted up really badly in her metalic mark todd one - she was a sweaty stressed mess after a few hours :( but that's my only experience...
tbh i bought one as everyone seems to uyse them so thought maybe good idea - but she's far happier without one on enjoying the sun :) (i use coopers/barrier super plus to keep flys away ;))

My dark-ish bay has the metallic Mark Todd one, and he's cooler in it than without it . Agree that shiney surfaces reflect more heat than non shiney.
