Just out of interest, do you have 3 banks and the floor 3/4 covered (pushed back from the door), or 4 banks and a complete floor covering with room for water?
My horse has been cast a couple of times, I am thinking of having 4 banks now, the yard had been doing 3 up until now.
Thanks.

We have full, deep shavings bed with big banks.....
My mums horse periodically gets cast - but is very good at kicking himself back over - he's only been stuck once in 12 years.
He's managed to kick a hole in a timber loose box, and split open the seam of the neighbouring box - causing a bad injury at the time.
We've now got them re-inforced from floor to ceiling with the material used for horsebox flooring. His only problem now is it's a bit slippy - we've got the scratches in the panelling to prove it. However the banks at least keep their legs from getting wedged right down against the wall.
I think my mums horse is plainly stupid as he's never learnt (he's in a 12x12)

v Deep bed on rubber matting pushed back a bit from the door area (2 have shavings/one paper), 2 of the horses have large banks and one of mine has a tendency to get cast from time to time(he has a big stable) he has massively high banks and this does seem to stop him from getting cast. Their beds are banked on all 3 sides.

fully matted stables (13 x 15 for shetland and 16 x 15 for big lads)

i bank along 3/4 of one side and 3/4 of the the back wall so in effect its a big corner bed. i leave a swept area at front and narrow swept strip down the side that their water bowl is on and they are very good at keeping poo's on mats, wee's on bed and hay in the hay corner bless them.
