For my Research Project at school i have chosen to research how to build an ideal horse stable. If you have built a horse stable from scratch yourself, i would really appreciate replies regarding the cost and materials used. Thankyou :D

Hi there, my husband (who is a builder) built my stables. They are block work to the back and sides and brick work to the front. The boxes are 12ft x 12ft and one 14ft x 12ft and then a little L shape on the side for feed/hay/rug rack/grooming kit/washing machine/etc.

The roof is made of corrugated cement boards (non-asbestos) with a clear plastic one over each box to let light in. There is boarding with gaps around the front at the top of the boxes for ventilation. Traditional wooden stable doors.

Concrete floors.

Tap infront of the boxes.

A block paved and fenced area in front of the boxes for tie up and letting the boys roam about during the day when there is no turnout.

If you need a price email me and I can ask my husband to do some calculations - I'm sure he won't mind.
:)

The only thing I don't know is how much they cost as we built them about 5 years ago and did it all in with building a house!
