Building a house and yard

I agree, go for something pre-existing, will probably work out cheaper and getting planning permission is horrendous.

Whatever your dreams are don't give up on getting an education to fall back on. It's easy to get injured with horses and you really need to have the down to earth plan B in place. My son was a guinea pig at a training demo with Kenneth Clawson once and in the introduction he asked my son what his did, on hearing he was at uni Kenneth turned to the audience and said "That's why I like working with eventers, most of them have been to university and tend to be intelligent." He did compare them to another discipline but I won't quote what he said on here as it may cause controvesy :)

I apologise if you are genuine OP but are you really a 15 year old with dreams or a 30 something with a sense of humour / mischief?

I would love to think it's the latter :D

I'm not in the habit of stalking but as others have mentioned previous threads I went to have a look. They're all in the same vein apart from one in reply to a question about how much livery costs in the Midlands. The answer (sorry no idea of how to quote from other threads) was a very straightforward (I'm paraphrasing here) DIY costs me £37 a week inc hay and bedding. From a person who's never owned a horse and whose parents would be covering the bills? It struck me that it could have been posted in error from the wrong profile?

Annagain, I've just gone through her original posts again as it all just seem too odd, OP, you're not as it seems at all are you, I refer all posters to the thread "Is it wrong" where the OP states..... I Quote!

" I have added up costs and it would come to 15k for 3years inc purchase price and everything else (that's including BE) My daughter would also be competing in ONu18 in hope of getting onto the Junior team at weston park. I would expect, especially if she competed him in 2 international * events a year, he would go for 12k-18k as a 8 year old. This would be dependant on how he succeeded at eventing but I should expect him to do well at novice level an be ready to take his next rider up to intermediate and see a rider onto a Junior euros. "

Suddenly the OP who claims to be 15 yrs old has a daughter??? Can't be the mother posting on the other threads surely as she isn't remotely horsey if you believe this thread.

OP you have to have a good memory to be a fibber!

To be fair in one of her early posts the OP does come clean, puts up her hands and admits that she is the daughter not the mum. I think perhaps she thought people would take her question more seriously if she posted as an adult

I am having trouble working out the cost in feeding. I've been on the dodson and horrell website and put in my 14.2hh's weight (475kg). It says she needs 2.85kg of pasture mix a day (20kg a week) and 9.03kg of forage. She's living out and shut in her field shelter all night, how much hay/grass/feed does she need. I need help quick! Thankyou

Before everyone gets involved in a witch hunt, I think we should give the OP the benefit of the doubt. I think she is 15 years, has ambitions and is so keen to make them come real that sometimes she forgets she doesn't have the horse yet. Give the girl a break - we all had dreams once and there is no need to hound her. The worst that can happen is that she isn't genuine but honestly, that isn't as bad as ripping a teenager apart.

Agreed.

Yes we all had imaginary horses, they were so much better behaved than real ones..............

I bought a grooming kit for the ponies I didn't have, and did morning and evening stables in my dad's shed. I wrote their names in chalk on the brickwork including feed charts and riding rotas (between me, my sister and Donny Osmond). If asked, I would probably have sworn I had ponies, they were so real to me.

Maybe I've missed the posts that have "ripped a teenager apart" or the witch hunt? Post have been informative and helpful and now it is clear many people are confused by the OPs post and simply trying to figure out what is going on.

I've been following this post today and I want going to get involved but well... I am now!

Sounds like everyone has gone completely off topic now and is starting to blame it on OP which she stated is exactly not what she wanted, probably why she is now not saying anything- and it seems to happen in all her posts anyway :D

Sounds like a girl who shares an account with a mother but may be way too dreamy as well....

I do blame you OP for having such huge dreams but I think that's good. Too many people telling her to get off her arse and find work experience. Anything. When you lot are on here most of the day, clearly not working your butt off for your horses then eh?! People are telling her to do different things. I suggest she does what she said- make the most of what she's got now. Talk her parents round for a loan at this semi pros yard. Go to boarding school get good A levels, good degree and fund herself in this dream. From her other. Threads it seems to be

(continued) seems to be she's a high achiever which means she can get a better paid job that you office workers and live the dream.

You might want to have a look at the thread about what jobs people do before stereotyping all users. It is very clear that no one is out to "blame" the OP for anything, perhaps I'm also missing the posts that have something to blame the OP for??? It isn't making any sense and people are wondering what is going on. When you've been on the forum for a while you will learn that there are a lot of trolls and unusual posts that will make you want to understand better.

I clicked on this thread thinking it would be an informed discussion re building a house and yard - any chance we could get back to that topic? Pretty sure there are people out there that might find information on the actual costs, pros and cons interesting or even useful.

Frankly, I'm rather tired of threads choking up after someone finds an issue with the posting history of whoever the OP of the thread in question is. It's happening a lot on here lately, and it's pointless. At best, you spotted a troll, and in doing so have fed it anyhow. At worst, you may put people off who have been genuinely seeking advice etc. Either way the discussion gets derailed, which is annoying and makes a mockery of those who have contributed in good faith.
