Building a menage

Can any one advise me - if I want to build a 40m x 20m menage waht should the overall size of the site be? am assuming that you should leave a bit around the sides for fencing etc.

I have a possible site but think it might be a bit tight.

Next step - persaude OH (be nice to him, very nice), put in for planning permission so neighbours can object (miserable sods who object to everything!)

Oh nearly forgot - find money. Worry about that later!

I'm having a 60 X 40 built right at this moment (should be finished in a few weeks, woohooo!). My advice would be to go for the best that you can afford. The company that I'm using are FAB, and the top guy told me they had to do a manege for £1,000

last year. He did it, but its rubbish. The drainage has got to be otherwise you won't be able to use it much, but like the guy said don't ruin a good manege by putting rubbish on it like woodchip.
