Were just putting the plans in place to build a school as soon as the weather clears up, we are on a budget so are going to do most of if ourself. I was wondering if anyone could give us any advice re a shopping list! And amount’s needed etc, we have a surface sorted but are not 100% sure about the hardcore etc and how much of it we need so if anyone has any info I would be very grateful. Oh it’s going to be 20x40 with no fencing etc so just kick boards.

Thanks

hi, we are in the process of buildin ours & hav got the hardcore/drainage down. this is quite useful but doesnt state amounts: http://www.jacksonarenas.com/diy_brochure.pdf but we bought a brochure from this place which states approx amounts & only costs 13.50 which is cheap (in relation to the cost of the menage!) for a step by step guide including where/how to do the drainage: http://www.new-dentex.co.uk/enquiries.html if i could find ours i would let you know the amounts! but for our 25x45 arena we expected about 160-180tonnes for a 3'' covering 220tonnes later it is finally there!

oh & we used 2x 6'' fencing rails for the kickboards which cost about £4-5each & they were 3.6m long. they were bought from a local saw mill.

thanks for that, i shall go and order a booklet now

. it's so mind boggling isn't it, but worth it in the end

def mind boggling along with stressful, time consuming & costly! lol! ours has been halted by the weather at the mo & its only the surface left to go! typical! but it wil be amazing when its finished!

been on a search for some of my pics for you, altho i dont have an after shot! sorry they are big!
the location:

had over 40trees to fell, but it was wasted land so we wanted to make some use of it!

leveled limestone & completed fencing:

now just for the membrane & surface!

it was 2''(i think) chipped washed limestone. it needs to be washed to remove the chalk/dust particles that will clog up the drains. downside is its more expensive but worth it in the long run!
