How much does it cost to build a 20x40 outdoor arena? I know there are alot of varibles, but any sort of a guide would be good

We are on clay, and don't have great drainage, so I'm guessing most of the cost would be in the ground works

Has anyone built their own? OH is very handy

Just posted pictures in pic gallery of mine being built - have a look and price guide can be anything from £10 to £20 K really, but you pay for what you get and i would recomend send as much as you can. Mine cost about 15k just for arena then stables yard etc on top, and that was very good price as we know the guy very well..... hope that helped?

Depending on how much work you are willing to do against having workmen in to do it, plus what type of surface you want on it, it can be anything from £8000 to well anything?. It doesn't matter if you are on clay or not you would need drainage installed. If you don't it will get water logged & will freeze over in the winter.

This link may assist you, there is loads of information on the site:

Because we are on clay and drainage is an issue I went for a very reputable company! (CB) They are expensive but have had absolutely no drainage problems at all and arena works really well. Cost £18,000. (20x40 with rubber surface- other surfaces are cheaper/more expensive)
They did the whole lot including planning permission.

During the recent floods several people lost their surfaces but mine is almost as good as the day it was laid, it drains so well.

Someone else i know did theirs themselves and by the time they had redone things it cost about £1000 less and had taken them over 2 years. Mine was completed in two weeks.
